Owner description: In the beautiful town of Chania you can see the armonic co-existence of different traditional architectures Venezian,Arabic,Ottoman. This is the beauty and the uniqueness of this town. One of the most interesting element of this architectural puzzle are the old Ottoman Baths, which you can find in ruins…The Hammams were brought to Chania by the Ottomans of Asia Minor. As Sherazade, the unforgettable protagonist of "A Thousand and One Nights" said: "A town is incomplete without a Hammam." Crossing the threshold, you enter a new dimension where old world traditions are infused with modern day services. Unlike Spas that call any steam room a Hammam, Al Hammam is the only one, authentic Hammam with all natural, organic, and traditional treatments; where beauty, well-being, body care, and relaxation of the mind are experienced in harmony. The Hammam will cleanse your body in a heated, low-mist room atop heated Venetian Marble tables, where an aesthetician exfoliates you and delivers an invigorating, full body Gommage using authentic black Moroccan Olive Oil Soap - your skin will be left feeling soft and supple - a prelude to your Hammam body ceremony.

“Real Hamam on the Harbour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

This is a very pleasant little spa with a real marble hamam in which to steam and detox. We tried the hamam with scrub for 45 Euros which was very enjoyable. We relaxed afterwards in the small room overlooking the harbour and sipped vanilla scented tea in Turkish tea glasses. It was a great way of spending a wet afternoon. The staff were friendly and helpful and the scrub competent - especially the the bit where they cover you in bubbles blown from a cloth bag - felt very exotic!

“Need to Relax in Chania - Try al Hamman Spa”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012

Looking for a wonderful experience in Chania, Crete. Look no further than the al Hammam Spa (run by Little Luxury Day Spa) near the waterfront in Old Town (next to the Starbucks). We had a wonderful and relaxing Swedish Massage after exploring the city. The management was very helpful and friendly and the spa staff courteous, professional, and terrific. The facility is clean, relaxing, and interesting and offers a range of services. The prices are reasonable and we plan to return here for the full Turkish Bath treatment the next time we visit Chania. If you find yourself in this beautiful little spot in Crete, be sure to give al Hamman a try. You won't be disappointed.

“A taste of the orient in Crete”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2012

We plumped for the hour "Al Hammam" treatment for couples which involved sitting in the steam room of the Turkish bath for 30 minutes, followed by a body scrub and massage on a set of hot marble beds. The experience was a new one and the massage was very relaxing. One thing to note is that they give you some (rather tiny) paper underwear to wear and not much else other than a towel, so if you're a bit shy you might want to mentally prepare yourself beforehand! Overall a great experience.
