“The best hotel in Chania old town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

This hotel is perfectly located for a central but quieter stay, right on the old venetian harbour front in Chania. Everthing was 10 minutes walk away and only 25 mins from Chania airport. The staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful, the rooms were of good size, clean and comfortable and the sea-view rooms have balconies overlooking the marina - beautiful. The breakfasts were very good and, for the first time in my experience, had real freshly squeezed orange juice available. Only quibble was the size of the bathroom - a bit of a tight squeeze round the door, but otherwise perfectly serviceable. The Reception and bar staff were wonderful and it was lovely coming back at the end of the evening and having a night cap outside the hotel overlooking the marina.
Would definitely go back again and would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a more authentic experience in old Chania at a very reasonable price.

Room Tip: Sea-view rooms are definitely worth the bit extra!

I stayed here for two nights on business. Arriving quite late in the evening, I stayed in room 308.
The suite was furnished quite basically, but none the less, very clean on comfortable.
Having a double balcony overlooking the old port area at the quiet end of the port.
Fantastic views!
Breakfast area has a great fresh orange squeezer which was brilliant.

I would not hesitate to bring the family here to stay in the future, a short walk into the hustle and bustle of the main port area.

Room Tip: Not sure if all rooms overlook the sea, but well worth asking for. Mine had a double balcony too!

Our first visit to Chania we picked the Porto Veneziano at the far end of the Old Harbor which is a perfect location for our base. The view from the balcony of room 310 was stunning at all times of the day.

We understand from the other guests some of the rooms were quite small but the studio room 310 was huge, the balcony going around the corner of the building. The view from the balcony is here :

Staff were attentive and friendly, breakfast simple but effective.

Location wise it was a perfect base to start our travels, at the quiet end of the harbour it was 10 minutes from the nicer restaurants and 20 mins to the bus station if you wanted to go further afield.

Downsides ? Not many it was in need of a lick of paint in places, reception advised us they were closing next week for renovations, wireless was a little choppy but all small fry. Lovely place.

Room Tip: The studio rooms are worth the extra money (110,210 and 310)

We were more than pleasantly surprised by this great value hotel. An excellent location in the quieter, more authentic side of the harbour with parking easily accessible. Our suite room was very spacious (room 210) and had great views of the water on both sides and a balcony. Huge choice of good quality food for breakfast. And the staff were friendly and efficient too.

This was our second visit to the hotel. Best location in the harbour. The views are exceptional. Have stayed at other places at the harbour which are more romantic, better furnished etc but this wins hands down. There is a feeling of space which is lacking in the higher rated places. The staff without exception are excellent, nothing is too much trouble. The hotel is spotless.
Closing down for refurbishment of the bedrooms and seemingly going to be the same price for accommodation when it reopens.
It is well worth paying for a sea view and if the budget allows a suite. Most guests we spoke to had been returning to the hotel for years, which speaks volumes.

We only stayed 1 night and got the last available room so didn't have much of a choice. But because they weren't able to accommodate our request for a habour view they provided us with a bottle of wine on ice with a fruit basket in our room, which was a lovely touch.
Breakfast was good, and great to eat on the harbour side.
It's located on the quiet side of the harour with much less hustle and foot traffic than the other end, and still within very easy walking range of everything you need to see and do.
Would highly recommend
