“Tempted by Tamam?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

Tempted by Tamam? Do not hesitate for excellent Greek food with a Turkish twist, housed appropriately, in an old Turkish baths.

Tamam is striking inside with terracotta walls, cream stonework and a high wooden ceiling. It retains its steep two level bath house flooring and the tables are tightly packed, so that it can be a challenge to reach your table. Disabled diners may find it easier to sit at the tables in pretty Zambeliou street outside. Tamam scores very highly for atmosphere. The menus are used as place mats so that you can plan future courses or even your next visit - a nice touch.

The food is excellent and has a Turkish influence, lots of mint and yoghurt flavours. Our appetizer of bread, olives and garlic butter was sublime. We chose a starter of Tamam salad flavoured with avocado yoghurt and walnuts - very tasty. My main course of stuffed bifteki, served with lime juice, salad and the lightest rounds of chipped potatoes was fabulous! The waiter took the trouble to explain that the main course would take twenty minutes to prepare as the food was freshly cooked. The service was professional and courteous both times we visited, even though the restaurant was extremely busy.

Tamam is extremely popular so go early or late (9 pm) to secure a table, unless making a reservation. Tamam deserves all the plaudits. It was our favourite restaurant in Chania. Do not miss it!

“Chania restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

Food and wine delicious. Reasonably priced - 2 starters and bottle wine 26 euro then free spirits (6 shots) and so so dessert. Will be going back to taste some of their main dishes. Starter s and bread were enough for lunch and needed a walk to make room for dinner.

“Very nice food - good atmosphere”

The staff was really nice and the location of the restaurant is right in the middle of the old city.. so it's really nice to seat there at night.

“Pit stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

This hotel was recommended to us by our hotelier and we were able to make a lunch time visit.
The menu was varied, reasonably priced and our food well cooked and delicious, more authentic Cretan than that offered by most restaurants in the harbour area. We sat inside rather than at one of the outside tables as it is located in a very narrow sidestreet which was busy even at the end of the season.
