This bar, nestled in the main square of Agios Nikolaos, was a real find. The beer is cold, the coffee is hot, the food - fast and unpretentious - is good quality. It manages to attract both tourists and locals (always a good sign) and the staff are very welcoming. The owners, Ioannis, who is himself local, and his stunning wife Sharon, who is English and was once a major figure on London's Daily Mirror, have made the Piccadilly into a real gem. There's plenty of competition, but in spite of that we found ourselves regularly calling in for morning coffee, and maybe a spot of breakfast, back again for late lunch and a cool drink in the afternoon sun, and after dinner we'd drop by for a nightcap. Sharon certainly knows how to keep the fun going and the customers happy. Crete is enjoying a resurgence of popularity, particularly with British visitors, and the people who run Bar Piccadilly are very good ambassadors for the island.
