“Great food, popular, busy, slow service.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2013

The first time we tried to dine here, the restaurant was full. We booked for the next evening as we'd read good things about it and knew that it was popular with Greeks. The food was really good. It's a meze restaurant and there are some fantastic local dishes on the menu. The Apaki was marvellous and anything that is served with Balsamico in Crete is a delight! It was busy again on the night we dined and the service was excellent right up until we wanted to leave!

As we were staying in the middle of nowhere, we wanted to catch the last bus. We timed our meal perfectly, and asked for the bill at 8:00pm. The bus wasn't until 9pm so we thought we had plenty of time. The usual complimentary Raki and watermelon came and went. But no bill. I asked again at 8:30m for the bill. After a third request, it finally arrived at 9:10pm. I wouldn't have minded if a) there wasn't a bus to catch or b) I had wine to finish, but there was nothing on our table for 50 minutes. 50! So when the bill came, they lost their tip as we decided to spend it on a taxi instead. Shame, because I really enjoyed the experience otherwise. Oh well. That doesn't take away from the fact it's a very good restaurant with excellent food and drink. Recommended. Just ask for your bill when you start your main courses :)

“Very good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

I have used dine in Michelin rated restaurants due to my work. This place was actually very good and all mezes that we ate were good, namely shrimp risotto (very good). All portions are big so you dont need many portions, 2 is enough per person. Of course this is not Michelin level restaurant but it suprised me in good way.

“Very good food; nice location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

The area around the lake is quite crowded and comes off as more touristy than by the beach where Chrisofyllis is located. The view from this restaurant is far nicer too. We tried the fava spread, the shrimp sakanaki, the little burgers and a Greek salad, and this was too much for the two of us. Fortunately, all was delicious and we were able to take our leftovers back to our hotel. Service was efficient and friendly.

“Good food, nice staff”

Excellent selection of Meze, and a nice location next to the sea. Service was good, but perhaps a bit slow in you are in a hurry. But who is in a hurry in Crete?

“Wonderful restaurant, generous portions.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013 via mobile

We ate here on the reccomendation of a local bar owner. We nearly didn't stay as some of our group were put off by it being mezzes but I'm so glad we did. The location is perfect, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the main street, overlooking the beach. We over ordered, choosing 3/4 dishes between 2 when in most cases 1 would have been ample. The waiter did say you've ordered too much food but we chose to ignore him. It was all well presented and delicious it would have been difficult to choose what not to have. I particularly enjoyed the (not so) mini burgers and the garlic potatoes .... Delicious.
