“perfect location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

just got back from the santa marina hotel. I was very worried as the reviews wernt good. When we first walked in i thought it looked ok. A meal had been left for us which i thought was lovely as we arrived around 1.30am. We then went to our room. The room was very dated and on the busy road outside. I down to reception to be asked to move. Our new room was still dated but in a better position. Food at the hotel is basic but fine. We always found something to eat. The bar only had brandy, beer and wine. There was also raki and ozo. It was difficult to get a drink after 4pm as georgia seems to be in another world. We did find it funny, you had to. day staff Marria was fantastic. The restaurant staff are superb. Like to also thank the people we met for a great holiday. The postion of the hotel could not be better.1 min from the beach and 5mins from the beautiful harbour. If you have not paid much for this holiday you will be happy. Lauren i have not got your phone number.

Room Tip: rooms facing the court yard are the best

Plus points first, Fantastic location so handy for the beach and Lake. Hotel is clean and well maintained but to be honest isn't reaching its potential to be the best hotel in Ag Nik.
Staff Angela on reception was brilliant full of info on the area and very helpful always felt you were in capable hands when she was on duty. Yannis as well top marks as i am gluten free he made a point of finding out which foods I could eat before I came down for dinner.
The court yard is a beautiful place to relax and have a drink. As for the views from the sun bathing terrace on fourth floor are stunning
Ok all in the garden is not rosey, food is repetitive and boring , the bar service was totally hit and miss we were all inclusive and went down for a last drink at 9:45 the bar person came at gone 9:50 but we were told we would have to pay because all inclusive ends at 10pm and our drinks wouldn't be drunk by then ?
The bath was so narrow you can only bath children in it but shower was good with plenty of hot water
You can get a bit of traffic noise but tolerable
In summary if you want a beautiful hotel good location with handy access and are not bothered about eating at the hotel then this is the one for you.
Too many nice restaurants and bars around AI at this hotel just isn't worth it .

We stayed here during August, whilst on a short visit to see friends also on holiday in Crete. We were looking for somewhere reasonable but had to be clean and in the town centre, so this place ticked all the boxes. For the price we paid we didn't expect much but got a lot more than we expected, breakfast was inc. in price and was very good, also coffee/drinks very cheap at bar. Would recommend and we would most certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: for a few extra euros book a luxury room

The hotel was rather old, but very clean and convenient. The food was satisfactory, but we liked the breakfast most, although the quality of the ingredients was not so good. There was no bath foam or shampoo in the bathroom, but there was on old hairdrier. The towels seemed clean but they were raher smelly. There was a balcony, but the view is average. There was an old-fashioned but effective air-conditioning device, too. There is a nice beach just opposite and even nicer beaches in just a few minutes walk!

Room Tip: Choose one of the top floors!

3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2010

I took a holiday with my family and chose this hotel after seeing it on the internet .Its photos looked very attractive, especially the ones of the exterior. On our arrival we were really disappointed to see an abandoned garden.
The rooms were satisfactory with fridge, aircondition ,tv ,roomy bathroom although a bit too small and a depressive grey colour everywhere.Unfortunately, there was no internet connection available in the hotel and I had to use the local wirelees connection which was very weak and slow during the evening(impossible to use).
Breakfast was of very low quality with very poor variety.Never had dinner so I cannot say about that.
The reception staff were always pleasant and helpful though and so was our maid.
All in all,I think this is a nice hotel at a nice location by the beach and within a walking distance of the town centre but there has to be done something to give it a boost.
If the garden was more well cared and added some colour in the rooms , I think it would make it a nice place for a holiday in Agios Nicolaos.

clean-not perfect, could be better
no aircondition
swimming pool not attractive, practically not in function (closes after 5 pm)
seems alittle bit abandnoned, not renovated
furniture of ther rooms: basic
breakfast: fresh bread, not luxurious, but tasty and plenty of foof
dinner: the cook is a magician, as he cooks with poor material a decent meal. Quantity really satisfactory
Angela was really friendly among the staff.
The other staff memmbers tried rather to find or to invenmt explanations for the problems than to resolve them.
the hotel is not a 3 star in myopinion
avoid Agios NIkolaos in general, but if you decide to spend or to waste your time there, Santa Marina offers a perfect location inthe city center. It is rather the most decent place in the town. It is ok if you give 50 euros for a double room, I would nt pay more.
internet didnt work,although advertised
