“Very Very Nice and excellent stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013

This hotel is the best hotel we ever had in Crete. We stay more than thirty times in Crete but this is the best of the 5 stars hotel we ever had. The food is alternately and very fresh and a great great choice. It was very tasty. We love the kitchen and their cooks. Breakfast is more than okay, and you can choice of eggs, omelets etc.
The hotel is very clean and the staf and all the personel(reception, waiters, barkeepers and cleaners) are friendly en very helpfull.
The hotel have a great mainpool and a beach.
There is for everyone a lot of place, you don`t have a run for a good place at the beach or the pools. It isv a very quite hotel . The outside resataurant looks over the bay of Agios Nicolaios and is very nice. We stay here in September three weeks and we could always have breakfast en dinner in the nice garden.

Room Tip: The most rooms are standard room and are nice and have all a balcony with much privacy. But you can...

We have stayed here many times and feel as if we are coming home when we arrive. The views around the hotel are just wonderful and all the staff are so helpful, they cannot do enough for you. The breakfast buffet is very good and the food in the evening is also good and varied. If you want to have lunch there are bar snacks and also a taverna in the grounds where the food is excellent and mostly greek dishes. Manolis and his staff at the taverna are again so helpful and the view, whilst you are having lunch, is amazing. As I said we have been coming here for many years for a truly relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings but now at 11am in the morning there are aerobics in the pool and the music is so loud. There were never more than 12 people doing the aerobics at any one time which is a very small percentage of the guests staying there.
The manager said he would ask the girl to turn the music down but the next day it seemed even louder. The loud music starts again at about 4pm in the afternoon on the other side of the lawned sunbathing area. This is my only complaint about this lovely hotel and hopefully they will reconsider these activities in the future..

Dear David,

Thank you so much for coming back to Sensimar Minos Palace and for sharing your experiences with other travellers. We hope you had a pleasant flight home.

It's nice to see, that you enjoyed your well deserved holidays and especially the lunch in our taverna with the nice view. Your compliments for the whole team are a big motivation to continue giving only the best to our guests.

We are also very thankful for your open words. Kindly note, that part of the Sensimar - concept is also a very soft entertainment, but of course without disturbing the guests and without very noisy animation. Please be sure that we will check the issue again.

For us, it was a pleasure to welcome you again and we hope that you may return very soon!

Just returned home from the Minos Palace Hotel in Crete.
Cannot fault the rooms, staff, food, pool, nothing was too much trouble.
Only one snag, the beautiful outside dining area with spectacular views is a smoking area!!!!!
Unfair for us non smokers who want to dine smoke free in the fabulous surroundings.
You cannot smoke inside, however, I object to being tucked away in the dining room when I wanted to eat whilst overlooking the beautiful mountains and sea.
Think the Hotel needs a re-think, it will drive customers away sadly.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view, although it is described as all rooms being sea view, some have very restricted vi...

Dear guests,

Thank you very much for coming to Crete and for choosing Sensimar Minos Palace. We hope you had a smooth flight home.

We are pleased to read, that you enjoyed your well deserved holidays and found the relaxation you were looking for.

We are also thankful for your kind suggestion and check, which possibilities we have to create a non-smoking zone on our terrace, Please allow us to add, that smoking is allowed only in the outside areas of the hotel and that we cannot avoid, that the wind blows smells to areas where they should not be.

It was a pleasure to welcome you and we hope to see you again soon!

Stayed here in July for one week through Thomson. Stayed previously at Aquila Village the previous year as really liked Crete but wanted a bit more nightlife than Elounda offers.
6 Euros for a taxi into Agios Nikolaos where there some great bars and places to eat
Hotel was very god, clean with a large pool and good breakfast
We were fortunate enough to be upgraded halfway through to a Suite with a private pool which was amazing, ( we had some noisy neighbours so asked to move and were offered a suite a few days later!)
Only downsides not much beach or snorkling as mainy rocks and not much to look at in the water but surrounding views stunning and staff very helpful.
Being adults only meant a peaceful retreat and eating was a calm and relaxing environment

We were lucky and got upgraded to a suite with private pool, hot tub & sauna. Breakfast was good it was nice to sit outside. We had lunch at the taverna which was also very good. We took a taxi into town most nights for dinner and cost 6 Euro. For the 1st time in years we spent most of the time by the beach. The sea was so still it was more like a giant pool. We had no trouble finding shade on the couple of times we went to the swimming pool. We had a great week of sun, sea and great food. Not sure what the normal rooms were like but I would upgrade to the shared pool if we decide to go again. Can't imagine we would be lucky enough to be upgraded twice. It will be in the running when we book up for next year.

Room Tip: Cross your fingers when you arrive. You may be upgraded.

We have just returned from a fabulous fortnight at the Minos Palace. We found the staff very friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived until departure. Our room and the whole hotel environs including the gardens were clean and well maintained. Sheets and towels were changed regularly and, contrary to other reviews, were good quality. The food was good and the variety acceptable though I would have liked some of the dishes available on the speciality fish night to have been presented on other nights as well. There are a restricted number of sunbeds on the rocks and at the beach but we had no problems in getting a sunbed in the pool area and the hotel staff seemed to be enforcing rules that prevented sunbeds remaining unoccupied for long periods. The pool opening times were not strictly enforced as we saw people swimming as early as 8am and as late as 7pm. The location of the hotel is good with a frequent bus service into Agios and a cheap taxi ride (6 euros each way) but it is an easy and very pleasant 30 minute walk into the town, mostly along a promenade by the sea and I would suggest ending it at Buzz, a juice bar beside the harbour, for a freshly squeezed fruit juice. I would also recommend a visit to Plaka, a small village usually used as a stop off for ferries to Sinalonga but worthy of a short visit in it's own right. Taking the 11am bus from the main road by the hotel gives you enough time to explore the small number of craft shops and have a fish lunch before catching the 13.40 or 15.30 bus back to the hotel. We had an excellent lunch at Taverna Gorgona by the seafront with fresh fish, salad and wine for two for approx 45 euros.
All in all we had a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday made better by the hotel experience and we are looking to go back sometime in the future

Room Tip: Try and get a room facing out to the islands and sea rather than into the bay by the hotel entrance.

we had booked this place after reviewing opinions given by other travelers on trip advisors, and some features were not surprising for us (like the tiny beach and limited number of sun beds...) but our biggest disapointment upon arrival was to be given a room with very poor sea view were as the website mentions that all rooms had see view. actually some rooms have a full large sea view and other a poor one (no luck for us). the first impression was not very good with a very standard check in, no welcome drink in the room, worn out bathrobes and closets. faded curtains and bed covers and faded bathroom (ool soap distributor still in place but not refilled). the lobby bank is also worn out
on the last of our 3 days we were offered to change for another room , but this was neither worth it nor timely (too late too bad).
the breakfast is correct (large choice) but lacks refinery and quality
staff is correct but not overwarmfull.
we had the impression that it was a "big place"
but overall the stay was relaxing
special like for the beach restaurant and the cleanliness of all gardens (very well maintained)

Room Tip: ask preciley for "full sea view room)
