“a very relaxin holiday and i will highly recommend candia park village”

Candia Park Village

Jul 5, 2008

i went to candia park for a relaxing week with my mum. the apartments were very comfortable, very clean, and very spacious. The surrounding area of the apartment was very greek, it has lots of greenary and is very well looked after. It has its own private beach and the swimming pool was nice and big, it didnt seem to matter what time you got to the pool you could always get a sunbed!!!
The only negative thing i have is our transfer from the airport to the hotel, it was 2 hours long, we were the second to last to be dropped off, and so on our return we got a taxi which took about 50mins and cost 67euros.
For a week of relaxin and sunbathing this is a fantastic place to go!!!!!

“Fantastic studios”

Candia Park Village

We (me, husband and a 6 year old) have just come back from a week at Candia Park. The place is lovely - it feels like its' set out like a greek village and the studios and apartments are in small blocks of 4. We were self catering and the studio was plenty big enough for the 3 of us. We had a lovely terrace outside and it was really peaceful. Pools were great and there was a small private beach which was amazing for snorkelling. In the evening there was a restaurant and a taverna. We ate in the taverna a couple of evenings and the food was nice, slightly more expensive, but then you would expect that in a hotel. We also got taxi's to Ag Nik and Elounda on several nights and again the food was great in the harbour side restaurants.
We always ended up back at the bar in the evening. Seats are set up outside under trees and it feels like a village square atmosphere with the restaurant also there and a clock tower. Evening entertainment was O.K. We caught the end of the greek night and my daughter loved the dancing and she loved the magician another night. Mostly it was just piano music but that was fine as it was usually just for the last drink of the night that we popped in there.
One thing to consider is that it is well out of the way. We appreciated this and hired a car (to visit area and of course water parks!) and budgeted to catch taxi's at night. (Supermarket very expensive but if you have a car there are big supermarkets near by - half the price). If you enjoy walking out in the eveing though it won't be for you. Taxi's were readily available but I would guess in high season there may be more of a wait for them.
I would definately recommend the apartments, staff were friendly, the place was spotless, great pool and beach. For us a week was enough though as we like the chance to explore by foot as well.
P.S. Trip to Spinalonga from Plaka, Water City Water park and the Aquarium are highly recommended.

Middle aged couple and two late teenaged daughters shared largest type self catering apartment in last week of May 08. Good apartment but with fairly minimal cooking facilities. not a problem for us as apart from breakfast we tended to eat out.

Fair cross section of Families from Germany. France, UK , Scandanavia and Eastern Europe.

Very attractive village style complex, with traffic free paths and low rise accomodation. Reasonably peaceful and quiet style. Nightly modest optional entertainment without being too obtrusive.

Excellent setting and good on site facilities. Very helpful and freindly staff, particularly Reception and of course the on site Taverna.

"Main restaurant" -average euro food with greek twist. Its buffet style and not to our taste, but on site "Taverna" much better with reasonable ethnic choice- Souvlaki, Gyros etc, and excellent hospitaltiy from Manager and staff. Many Raki and yammas.

The Village is a couple of miles out of Aghios proper, so a hire car is advisable. Helpful rep on site who was happy to do a deal to win business.

If we came back to the eastern side of Crete we would certainly stay at Candia Park again.

“Great time in Crete”

Candia Park Village

My husband and I went to this hotel in September 2007. We booked a suite in front of the swimming pool. The hotel was very clean, and the little beach is just amazing! Something I noticed is how kind employees treated all children (we do not have children yet, and this called me the attention). Inside the hotel you feel like if you were in a little village.

The hotel is a little bit out of town, and therefore quiet. However, you can take a bus in front of the hotel. The food in the restaurant was OK, but we only ate there once. The rest of the time we ate in different tavernas located in Elounda, Agios Nicolaos or near these areas.

The best I can recommend is to rent a car. There are so many places to see around! We really spent a great time in Crete. I would definitely stay in this hotel again.

Hint: We stood the first week in this hotel and the second week in another hotel near Chania. I definitely recommend this!!

we stayed at cadia park village with 2 children aged 12 &10

the place is beautiful - gardens and grounds really well kept and standard of service really good

the food and drinks here were really expensive though - we ate out in Ag Nic most nights and although lots of lovely restaurants and bars - again it was really expensive and we spent a lot more than we had planned to - had to get taxis each night so ended up getting a hire car

this part of crete is lovely - compared to many other reorts in crete that looked like benidorm ...im glad we were in Ag Nic

elounda is beautiful - can understand why it is billed as the playground of millionaires

candia park is great for families although one of the main pools is salt water which isnt great ! ... i would go back ( although dont tend to return to the same place twice)

the kids club is wonderful - my daughter recieved cards and a t-shirt off them when she got home !!!

overall candia is really high class for greece - beautiful location & gardens - access to the beach.. if you want high standard self catering villas I would highly recommend
