“Amazing and looking forward to go back again this season!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

We just wanted to be right next to sea, to hear the waves at night with an open window, to try all different kinds of cuisine (local, Italian etc), to relax by the pool on a hot windy day, to enjoy our passion for Greece. A big THANK YOU and a bigger BRAVO to the people who work and develop this magnificent resort!

Room Tip: Ask for a room right next to the seaside, the sound of the waves is just great!

I visited last summer the Daios Cove and was impressed by the beauty and luxury of this resort. It looks brand new and everything is nicely designed. The rooms are great and it has very good service. Access to the beach is good, but food is just ok. I think breakfast could be a little improved, but besides that, everything else was perfect !

5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

We visited Daios Cove in May/June 2012, it was our first holiday since our second daughter had been born, who at the time of travel was 7 months old. Our eldest daughter was 5 years old when we visited.

The resort is amazing, the views, the quietness, its far away from the hustle and bustle of any holiday towns which suited us perfectly, we go on holiday to relax and even with two young children this was easy enough to achieve here.

We stayed in a one bedroom villa which was not only beautiful, but also huge and was far bigger than we were expecting, a break from the norm.

The food at all the restaurants was excellent, and while some on here have complained about drinks prices, we actually thought they were very reasonable, this is five star after all, in a UK five star hotel you would pay double if not triple the prices for drinks. The room service was second to none, and the attention to detail when the room service team brought your food was outstanding, the really went to town setting up your table,

The kids club was fantastic, the staff made it very fun for children and our older daughter just kept wanting to go back. The did things like pyjama parties where they took the kids for dinner together and then came back and played games in their pyjamas.

We had gone to Daios Cove with the full intention of exploring Crete a little, this is never easy with two young kids in tow, but because the children were so happy and we were so relaxed we never ended up leaving the hotel, we felt very relaxed when our holiday ended, and we have booked to go again in May this year.

We are really looking forward to visiting again and would recommend this hotel to anyone, The only down side to our visit was a pretty awful outward flight with easyjet, caused by both other passengers and rude staff. Also some messed up taxis (not enough space for luggage on arrival and they were on strike when we were going home), neither of which were the hotels fault, in fact I notice that Daios Cove are doing the airport transfers themselves this year if you stay in a Villa, so this addresses one issue.

We visited Daios Cove in late August 2012. We chose this resort based on the presentation on the website and the positive reports on Tripadvisor.

On arrival at the resort our initial impression was very much in line with our expectations. The standard of finish throughout is very good and room was well appointed. We booked a pool sea view room and was disappointed to find that the views on many of these rooms are a partial sea view only. Also, due to the orientation of the resort many are in shade for some or all of the day.

The beach being in its own secluded cove is governed by the height of the tides. We discovered that August is when the climate in Crete starts to change and it is not unusual to have very high winds and consequential high tides. The effect is that it reduces the beach by almost half. As there are limited sun bathing areas around pool and the beach it can prove difficult to find sufficient space any where to sunbathe.

A number of contributors have stated the funicular railway is very slow. That's as may be but as you are on holiday does it matter! It is the only sensible way the go from the upper levels to the beach as the climb is quite steep.

Given the cost of the holiday - we booked Full board - we were distinctly unimpressed with the standard of the buffet food offering at all times. Starting with breakfast when you get there when it opens there is no one on the egg station. It is not until nearly an hour later that someone appears. Your choice is from the pre made egg dishes in the holding dishes. Lunchtime at the beach bar was probably the poorest snack offering we have every had. The only option was to visit the Taverna and pay for some freshly prepared food as shown on their website. Lastly, having eaten in All Inclusive buffets in the Far East, Indian Ocean, Caribbean and Turkey it showed how poor this was. Indeed, speaking to other guest we discovered they were similarly displeased with the standard and offering that they resorted to having dinner in Aghios Georgios every night.

Room Tip: Don't waste money on a pool room

I did not have much time to enjoy the luxury of the hotel, as I did stay in Daios Cove as a conference organizer and had small time to relax. However, I did have time to observe and rate some things.
When coming in my room, I felt like in paradise… the room was tremendous and had a gorgeous view of the magnificent Mirabello Bay… I did spend a couple of hours before going to sleep on my last night at the resort, enjoying the melody of the waves and sea breeze… the nights at this resort were magic… the quite atmosphere, away from town and dark sky would absorb any bad thoughts!
Furthermore, the staff was excellent, always replied with a smile to all my requests and wasted no time to do what I requested. The meetings held in the resort were delightful, as there was always someone available to help… other than that our main meeting room, which we used for our last night dinner, was soundproof so we did extend our afterparty for 3 hours without bothering the other guests of the resort.
Moreover, I did not enjoy the waters of the main pool, nor the spa… but, I did appreciate the lunch by the pool, the food was exemplary and the view of the gulf… fantastic! As per my colleague’s sayings, the spa was terrific, but which spa isn’t?
Lastly, I would like to mention that the location is not the best if you do not have a car of your own… as the resort is 7 km away from town, which makes it impossible for the non-athletic travelers… though this is what makes it different… the resort is so quite, that you can easily relax during your holidays.
I would definitely choose Daios Cove Luxury Resort & Villas for my stay in Crete again!

A very nice resort hotel with a beautiful little private beach. Private pool was spacious although a little chiily. Even so we used it daily. The restaurants were good although we bought all drinks and snacks in Lidl which was a taxi ride away. The scuba diving on the hotel beach was good and well organised.

Room Tip: Ask for a south facing room to have sun on your pool to warm it.

This resort is beautiful, well organised, great service and in a stunning location. I would highly recommend it. to improve...? The cable car keeps breaking and the maps they handout and the signage make walking back to your room quite impossible as well. Something they need to fix.

Don't bother paying for the private pool rooms unless you want to pay to have it heated... It looks great but is far too cold!

The restaurants are great though service in the Italian is patchy.
