“Luxury relaxing resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

This beautiful resort has been built with the use of the local stone so its very armoniously put in the scenery, so big but no visible at first from outside. Staff welcomed us and showed us parts and routes at the hotel, very helpful and friendly everywhere in the hotel. Very spacious villa, big room and living room and the same considering bathrooms!Fully equipped, all the facilities at hand.Great view, nice small pool in the outer space. Great organization in villa, very clean, nothing negative to remark at all! Very clever way of transportation with funicular! All design style of the hotel remarkable, one could notice this from couches to lights! Many, variable tastes of food! In summary it is a resort designed and built according to great detail in everything from services to facilities and design, worth visiting definitely!

Probably the best hotel in Crete! Fantastic service, rooms & views are stunning & the sea in October was perfect as was the weather 26 every day with calm sea. Quite a few young children though & the only negative is that the lifts are terribly slow & the walk to the rooms a seroius walk uphill so for the very old or infirm it would be tough. Not impossible as there are golf buggies and drivers that drive up & down but again there is a wait. Food was very good & masses of it! Good for vegetarians as well as carnivores! I would definately go again a lovely resort for a quiet weeks holiday.

Room Tip: Go for the deluxe room with plunge pool on level 8. Incredible views & more private

Overall a very good hotel.

Beach = Very clean and attentive staff. (7 Euro Ice creams is a bit steep)
Food = Very good and plenty of it (unless you are really pernickety!)
Staff = All very pleasant (90% of them are genuine)
Fernicular = Very slow (understandable as it is steep but a couple of miles an hour faster would help and still be safe)
Buggies = Good service. (Perhaps speed a little too fast around the resort, particularly at night)
Drinks= They are expensive but it is a 5 star hotel so I'm not too bothered about that
Spa = Touch too expensive to tempt us
Isolation= The facilities are great but you are a little isolated, so would recommend hiring a car. If you want to go into Agios Nikloas its 26 Euro return via taxi yet 4 Euro by bus!(Everyone says the bus is unreliable...rubbish, we used it 6 times and was always 10 mins either side of the alloted time) Just wait literally on the slipway outside the main entrance. The bus station in Agios Nikloas is behind the defunct Hyundai garage.
Bedrooms = Fantastic can't fault them, well thought out, great views, very clean and VERY SPACIOUS! (They just need to actually fix the Safe's into the wall in line with other 5 star hotels and then they would be perfect)
Watersports = Expensive, they were hardly used when we were there. Hiring a snorkel set for 15 Euro a day is ridiculous so take your own.
Hotel decor and layout = Fantastic, lovely tasteful contemporary furniture
WiFi= Wifi everywhere all around the resort even on the beach :)

Negatives for Diaos to sort out before we would recommend it to friends: THE POOL IS FREEZING COLD. Sort this out, lots of people comment on it when you are there. This is 5 star and unheated pool is a 2 star thing! Bizarre why this isn't just sorted.

Provide a minibus shuttle service down to Ag Nig. (There must be a reason why all the taxis have new mercedes and this is it.) A simple shuttle service 3 times a day would solve Diaos's problem of isolation that some guests comment about.

Evening entertainment..after your meal there isn't much to do. Doesn't need trashy entertainment like in many hotels but needs something... perhaps a gentle pianist in the large seating area inside (people will stay longer and you'll sell more drinks!)

Overall this is a very good hotel. We wouldn't hesitate to return and recommend to others IF some of the comments above were addressed.

This is our 2nd visit to this beautiful paradise location in a year !!!
Location is stunning , hotel is magnificent . Set into the Greek hillside overlooking an azure bay , the architecture is so in keeping with its surroundings it's hard to do it justice in a description , you need to come here & view for yourselves.
Food wonderful, plenty of choice for everybody , lovely restaurants if you fancy a change ( they do incur an extra charge , but well worth visiting)
Excellent service from all of the staff & very helpful !
We feel very privileged to holiday here & are sad that we only have 3 days left!!!

Room Tip: We had room 309 on both occasions , lovely views from the balcony & close to the funicular!!

The Resort in Daios Cove is first class. The Service is also first class. To focus on negatives would be extremely difficult when they obviously work so hard to be the 5 Star Resort they are!
If you like excellent and clean fixtures and fittings; the Rooms are super. The Infinity pools at the Rooms may be cool when you first get in, but you adjust very quickly. Hardly something to complain about when you are dipping into your own pool with views to the Mountains and the Sea on either side?!!
We were Half Board and found the food choice to be excellent.
Overall we had a fantastic Holiday: dont be put off by some of the petty complaints that have been previously listed, you will not be disapponted.

Very good hotel can't wait to go back, they look after you from the time you arrive until you leave.
The rooms are brillant and the service to. A little expencive for icecream and drinks but that can be managed to your own budget.
Our room was 533, lovely view, clean, modern and comfortable. Excellent housekeeping staff. In fact all the staff are helpful and nothing is to much trouble.
The golf buggies, lifts and railway is a god send for helping you get around. No need to worry about walking up and down hills as these get you around with little effort.
