We have just returned having spent a very pleasant week at Matala View.
I was a little concerned by the previous review but I think they must have sorted out the problem with the hot water as we had piping hot water morning and evening though out our stay there.
We had a double room rather than a studio or apartment. The room was quite small and basic but was kept spotlessly clean. Towels and bedlinen was changed for us midweek. The room had a fridge (very useful and quiet), a ceiling fan and also air conditioning if we needed it. We were also provided with one of the little plug in things for the mosquitos - tablets were just 2 euros from the local shop.
We had a small balcony with a couple of chairs and as we were on the 'top' floor, we cold see the sea in one direction and a lovely view of the hillside in the other direction.
We had plenty of space for our clothes, a wardrobe with lots of coathangers and shelves, a small dressing table and a couple of bedside cabinets. There wasn't a kettle or anything in the room so a travel kettle would be a good idea if you want hot drinks in the room.
We had breakfast at the pension each morning for 5 euros each - freshly squeezed orange juice, freshly made coffee, bread with jam or honey and a combination of eggs, ham, cheese or omelettes - a very tasty start to the day!
The pension is very close to the village centre but was very quiet in the evenings. There are some good tavernas close by and a few very reasonably priced bars. I'd recommend the red snapper at the 'Lions' taverna - quite expensive but a delicious treat!
Overall, Matala View is not a 5 star hotel but if you're looking for somewhere clean and comfortable for a quite, relaxing holiday then I would certainly recommend it.
