“History Meets Legent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

On the way to Elafonisi in the Gorge of Topolia about 300 steps above of the road is a cave with a litle charch of Agia Sofia "Holy Wisdom of God" from tha Byzantine era. Don't be sceptical about the steps this is a must visit place. The cave was so cool literaly and phisycaly. The temperature inside the cave is 18c doesn't matter how hot is outside. The girl that was there looking after the place, gave us a brochure (available in many languaches) with the very interesting history of the place. The place is magical don't miss it. on the way down we had some refreshments at the taverna at the bigining of the steps.

“Agia Sofia to be seen”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

Agia Sofia Cave to visit when you come to this part of Crete.
My wife and I have come to Crete every year since 1992 and visited the cave for the first time in 2000. It's a great experience while hearing that even ancient Greeks go up the many steps to the cave at Easter. It is a steep climb with really many steps.
This year, we saw it again and find the experience as exciting as last time.
