“Gorgeous views, wonderful staff”

I stayed at the Acropole for one night in fall 2007, and found it charming. I was very happy with my stay here despite the few negatives listed below.

Positives:

– The location is excellent, right in the center of town and within walking distance to the ancient site. There are many restaurants, shops, Internet cafes, etc., within easy walking distance.

– I had an upper floor room with an outstanding view over the valley to the sea – one of the more beautiful views I’ve had in a hotel.

– My room was quite spacious (I had a single), with simple but pleasant decor. There was a reading light over the bed as well, o bliss! The bed was firm but comfortable for me.

– The shower had excellent hot water temperature and pressure but was extremely tiny.

– Despite it being October, the hotel still had the A/C on, and it was excellent, nice and cool, just how I like it.

– The hotel is not on one of the main two streets in Delphi but on a quiet street running parallel along and down the mountainside from them, which made it very quiet. You do have to climb up fairly long staircases (or take the more gradually climbing longer way around on the streets) to get from the hotel street to the main streets, but I like exercise so I was fine with this.

– The immediate area is charming. Right next to the hotel was a lovely little house with chickens, gardens, flowers, etc., and I got some of my better Greece trip photos in this area.

– The staff at this hotel were extremely helpful. I accidentally left an item of clothing (not an expensive one, but I did very much want it back) in a restaurant near the hotel and had to leave Delphi before the restaurant re-opened. The hotel took my address, tracked the item down once the restaurant opened, and DHL’d it to me in the U.S. immediately. Above and beyond the call of duty. I owe them big-time for their kindness.

Negatives/other factors:

– The breakfast buffet was unimpressive, with a minimal selection and no hot items.

– Although at first glance my room seemed very clean, I later found a half-eaten bag of junk food and a cigarette lighter in the bedside drawer.

– Noise from other floors transmitted itself very strangely between floors via the bathrooms. When I was in mine, I could hear all sorts of things going on in the ones above and below me.

In summary, because of the location, the quiet, the A/C, the views, and the wonderful staff, I would very happily return to the Acropole. I also loved Delphi, which contained my favorite ruins in Greece and which was a charming town to spend a little time in.

This hotel no more **. But I would not give more than one. If public areas are more or less pleasant, rooms are awful. With the conditioner which has become outdated already in the last century, an old and empty fridge (but in buffet of hotel there is no mineral water, except Perrier for 10 euros). An awful bathroom for illegal emigrants. The only thing that pleased - a kind from a window (dirty for years, see photos). Advertised by this hotel the tavern for true gourmets Epikouros - is simply disgusting. Difficultly in Greece to find so bad meal. Wine to me have served very hot and turned sour. Disgustingly. But it is expensive. The truth a view from a terrace is fine. I don't recommend!

“Beautiful View!”

We stayed on the top floor and paid extra for a view and balcony. The view was excellent and worth the extra money! The website made it look and sound (plus when they emailed the confirmation) that we had a room with a separate room within the room. It ended up being a large room with 4 twin beds crammed in. The beds were fine and the bathroom was nice but the room and bedding could be updated! The a/c was great and worked very well plus having a balcony was really nice in the evening because of the breeze. The breakfast was not the best and I would opt out if you can. It had canned fruit, dry bread, meat and cereal. I would stay here again because of the view and the hospitality but would have 2 doubles instead of a quad!

Good hotel with excellent view on the balcony. Rooms are ok, but the showers need a little attention. It is just a matter of good cleaning !!! Shower screen was yellow (below) and between the tiles it was yellow too. We had a plastic little garden chair in the bathroom, normally we throw them away: it looked if it had stand outside for a few years. Good website, good lobby, but very poor shower, no bath. Hotel has only three rooms with a bath, that what they said to me.

“Its OK but”

Hotel Acropole Delphi

This is probably one of the best Hotels in Delfi but that is no recommendation.

The hotel itself is clean and well organised
The beds are basic
The walls are thin, don't stay here if you are a light sleeper.
Breakfast is adequate but does not have the variety and choice of most hotels of this caliber.

Its location on the lower road of Delfi means you need to approach from the West. It is hard (but not impossible) to find from the East.

The only thing that was exceptional from this Hotel was the staff who where polite and helpful, but noticeably absent on check out... hmmm
