“Very good value in a convenient location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2012

The Anita Argo hotel is a small hotel located in Piraeus close to the ferry terminal. I arrived late one evening. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and recommended an excellent restaurant within walking distance where I could still get a decent meal at 10:30 pm.

My hotel room (single with ensuite) was clean and functional.
The buffet breakfast at 6:30 am was plentiful and the hotel provided transportation down to the ferry terminal - a 5 minute drive.
All this for 30 Euros! Very good value.
T
Footnote: the staff had sent me very clear instructions for getting to the hotel from the airport by bus which were removed any uncertainty.

This is a good place to stay if you are catching a ferry from Piraeus, Athens. The staff is very helpful (they offer transport to the ferry terminals, maps etc) and the rooms are small, but clean. Free Wi-Fi and air condition. You get good value for your money.

To get to/from the airport there is a Metro going all the way (50 min) or an express buss (130 min).

Just got back fro a trip to Greece, we spent our first night at the Anita Argo Hotel, we chose it because it was so close to the port and we had to be out early. Unfortuantely our flight was delayed and we didn't arrive until 10pm (ish) we were met by friendly staff who couldn't do enough for you, they arranged for us to have a meal, which was lovely. I was a bit worried as it was only a 2 star, but the room we had was fine, very clean and had everything you would need,we booked an alarm call and reception arranged for a taxi to collect us. They helped make it a very stress free trip.

We arrived late one night from the islands and had to stay here before catching a flight the next day. We were a family of four staying in a quad paying 84 euros, and for that price range one would think that you can get something cleaner and newer. The room was old and run down, the staff couldn't even bother to lend a hand to help put a bag on their elevator, the TV wouldn't change channels, the AC was old. The area around the hotel was deserted at night, and similar to what other reviewer, we also were followed by a stray dog (not harmful but still...) and there was a camp of cats on one street. Compared to where we stayed on our arrival (Phidias Hotel), this was a dump and we would not stay here again. For this price range you are better off looking at other places as they could not be much worse. And note that it is walking distance from the port only in the sense that if you don't have any bags and just a backpack then yes one could walk it, but for the rest of us, you would need to take a taxi to get to your terminal.

Piraeus is not a pretty place by night but if you put that aside, Argo hotel is totally fine for a night when catching a ferry. Steps away from the port and from the bus stop to the airport. Lots of retail activity nearby - very convenient to grab, fruits, coffee and fresh baked goodies for breakfast. Our room was not very well cleaned (some gross brown stains in the bathroom made one think of nasty things that may have happened there) but we arrived late and just crashed. Staff was helpful and polite.

The owner Tassos was very friendly, informative and helpful. He suggested a restaurant close to the hotel that was great. Pakkaaiko has great Greek food and if you are luck you will be served by Katerina that makes you feel like a regular part of the family. Anita Hotel is very clean and close to the port for ferry rides to the Greek Islands. One thing to mention, the lift was very small, but it really didn't bother us. We would recommend Anita Hotel to anyone needing a place to stay either before or after their trip to the Greek Islands. And we would also recommend Pakaaiko Restaurant.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 6th floor and had a balcony. It was very quiet in the room with the outside door s...

I stayed here for one night before i went over to Aegina and i chose it due to its proximity to the port for the ferry the next day. Its in a great location, we got the bus from the airport which dropped us a few minutes away from the hotel which was great, you can easily walk to many restaurants and unlike some of the earlier reviews i did not feel unsafe walking around the hotel and we were females on our own, i didnt see any prositutes or drug dealers!! I would recommend you stay here if you need somewhere close to the port, its also within walking distabce to the metro which we took to go into Athens to see the Acropolis before going to Aegina. The room was clean and the staff were friendly and very helpful. Its great value for money.
