“Athens Highlight!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

This completes a visit to the Parthenon or even views of the Acropolis. Parthenon sculptures are exhibited within view of their source. Models and explanations are thorough and clear. Museum itself rests on pillars sheltering ongoing archaeological excavation. Best to start your tour with the short film on the third floor.

“Great museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

This is a great museum that is adjacent to the Acropolis. There is no comparison to the old Acropolis museum that was located on top of the Acropolis. Very impressed with the building itself and the exhibits. A must see if you visit the Acropolis.

“Classical Paradise.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

The long awaited Acropolis Museum opposite the Theatris Dionisiou justifies and surpasses all the hopes of the long deprived Hellenophile. It is a fantastic building worthy of housing those Parthenon treasures still remaining in Greece. During excavations for the building, many ancient foundations were discovered which turned out to be the artisan quarter of ancient Athens. Rather than cover these up, a wonderful glass floor has been constructed that enables the visitor to see these old streets and workshops simply by looking down beneath one's feet. All the glories of the former old Parthenon Museum are on display. On the top floor, what remains in Greece of the Parthenon Friezes is on display along with reproductions of the ones in the British Museum. Coming as I do from London I experienced a real and healthy sense of shame. Never was there a better argument for the return to Greece of the originals, than this beautiful building. There is also a lovely restaurant and terrace.

“Solid Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

They are clearly promoting Greek culture, which they should, and are doing a good job of it. This is a solid meal for lunch. Better than most museum cafes.
