“A must see place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

Lovely and well-maintained museum, was our first port of visit in Athens! Spend a few hours here before heading to the Acropolis!

“After the Acropolis....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

This wonderful, modern, well-laid out Museum is definitely worth a visit, especially after visiting the Acropolis to gain a better understanding of the history and construction. The care and attention that has gone into each area of displays and the restoration of artifacts is world class, and the written backgrounds on exhibits are brief, but provide informative and interesting facts on each piece. The venue is well air-conditioned making it a perfect destination for an afternoon visit if you are there in summer. Their cafe, with great views of the Acroplois, is a great place to take a lunch or coffee break while you are absorbing everything.

“Start at the top, with the short video, then check out the museum.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

Wonderful exhibitions, great way to learn the history. Video on top floor is really a great overview. We visited it first then the Acropolis next day....added more information and insight to our Acropolis visit. Well worth the entrance fee, and time. A for sure to do in Athens.

“fabulous new museum, well displayed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

Obviously this is a unique museum, given what they have to display, and their location "under" the Acropolis. Well laid out, easy to follow, will work well for anybody from novice to academics knowledgeable about this history. Large numbers of people but didn't feel crowded. Tasteful giftshop. No complaints, other than a few places to sit briefly in the galleries would be welcome.

“Meet the Cariatides”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

It's a must to see the real Cariatides. Very modern museum just opposite the Acropolis. Very interesrting are the excavations of the old quarter around the Acropolis. You can see them under the floor of entrance to the museum a seethrough glass.
