“Only for a quick visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2012

Visiting Athens on my own for 4 nights on a budget I decided on this hotel. NOT in a nice area espically for a woman on her own but I was warned by previous reviews. No disabled access so quite a strugle with a suitcase and hand luggage. The receptionist saw me and ran out to help. Tiny lift, I was on 6th floor. Struggled to get in room as door sticks due to too many layers. Room is tiny, so is bathroom, one foot in shower to use loo. I had a balcony, no furniture on it so had to carry the chair out from the room. Wardrobe didn't look clean so refused to unpack, safe in wardrobe, liked as could put on code in. Flat screen Tv that took some time to warm up, no English speaking only channels except MTV and Nickleodeon. Mmmm, great for kids. I wasn't impressed until I really looked out of the window...... I had a fabulous view of the Acropolis, apparentely one of the only rooms that did. Forgave them everything else wrong with room. Breakfast was continental but never got a chance to eat it. 1st day off to the Acropolis before the crowds, 2nd and 3rd days going on coach trips that were picking me up just as breakfast started. There is a lovely coffee bar that does snacks. That was a godsend as there was no way I was going out at night, I had been hassled just going to get some water from a middle eastern man in a doorway at 8pm. The staff make the place. They can't do enough for you, helpful, friendly. Would I stay here again? Only with my husband and for a few nights again.

The location is not that bad if you travel with couple of friends. The lobby and reception area seems promising, but our double room is outdated with small TV and cheap furniture (not as they described in the booking.com pics). The reception staff was not friendly. The bed is not comfortable yet dirty, I felt itchy sleeping there. The room has thin wall so that you could hear people next door making out and also hear the noise from the street though we stayed at the 5th floor. The bathroom is small (especially the shower area) but clean enough. The restaurant and breakfast area is nice though.

It was among the cheapest hotel we can find which is slightly away from Ommonia sq. I like that its just 2 mins walk from Metaxurgieo Metro station. A few restaurants nearby at good price with big portion. A 24hr shop next to the metro. Internet is fast & free. Breakfast was good for such cheap hotel although coffee could be better. On the down side, the rooms seems a little rundown, door knob is loose, some lights not working, limited tv channels. But toilet was clean, sanitized daily. Got a regular size safe box. Air-cond is working good, no noise & cold. We didn't have problem sleeping each night...as a traveller we're always tired end of the day, woke up refreshed!

If you dont want to spend a fortune for your accomodation, this place is decent. The room was basic- small shower and an average bed but clean; and the breafast buffet is good. The location however is not ideal, quite far and deserted at nights.

The hotel room was the noisiest room I have ever stayed in. I am not blowing it out of proportion. The room opens infront of the main road and all night it was buzzing. As I am writing this review there is somebody hammering a nail in the wall. The hotel room confirmed its not them. The flush tank makes you feel like you shouldn't have flushed in the 1st place.

Service ...there wasn't any so unfair to judge. Linens didn't feel clean. Carpet was the almost sticky. In short if I could turn time back I would pay that extra 5€ and book a.different hotel.

When searching for an hotel in Athens I chose Hotel Minoa for two reasons. It´s easy to reach from the airport and the rate per night is very reasonable. My choice turned out to be a success. My room was very good with air condition, TV, safe and refrigerator. In spite of the rather heavy traffic outside I slept very well as the window was soundproof. The breakfast was excellent. The staff, and especially the night porter, was nice and very helpful. I will certainly choose Hotel Minoa for my next trip to Athens.

I was late for a plane and needed a hotel for a night to sleep. The taxi driver took me here.
Welcome was nice, but:
1. the room was with terrible smoke smell.
2. the aircond made sound but not cold
3. bed also uncomfortably hard with a small pillow.

as a result - i didn't sleep at all. Don't go there - search for other hotels, as I later found there is an hour of free wifi interntet in Athens airport, so better find another hotel.
