We have stayed in all types of accomodation, from Hostels to 5 Star. This place rates below any hostel we have stayed at - even though it is rated at 3 stars.

The room was noisy. There is a busy road near the hotel, not unlike most hotels, but this one doesn't seem to provide any insulation to the noise. However I wish I could say the road noise was the worst of it.

The hallways outside the rooms, and the room itself are tiled, so there's not much in the way of noise absorption. The doors tend to slam too so much of the night is spent being woken by slamming doors. Also, our air conditioner made loud popping sounds at the end of each cycle and the room got too hot without it.

After a pretty sleepless night, the morning shower was right on par - it was either steaming hot or freezing cold. No amount of adjustment could find a happy medium.

The breakfast buffet was very basic. Not much in the way of fruit. But by this stage, we had lost our appetites anyway.

We informed the lady at the front desk of all of this in the morning. There were other guests complaining about the hot water as well so we realised the hot water wasn't isolated to our room. We decided to cut our losses and checked out. We checked into the Novotel (also 3 star) and gladly paid extra for a couple of good nights sleep - and a sensational breakfast buffet.

My advice? If the budget is tight, find somewhere else in the price range with better reviews. If you can afford a little more and you are after a 3 star hotel, you can do a LOT better than this one.

Clean and tidy basic hotel close to the Metro. Helpful staff and a great welcome from Fran when we arrived. Aircon the quietest we encountered on our whole trip of 6 weeks. Internet available to guests although there is a charge. Very good range of food for breakfast. Rooftop bar a great way to see the Acropolis at night, although drinks a bit expensive. Not many good restaurants nearby so ask the staff. Conveneient location near a Metro station.

  • Liked — Location and the quite aircon
  • Disliked — Small shower base

The room we stayed in was an adequate size. Although i have to say that the single bed I used would move around, the reason being the tiles on the floor, which are quiet slippery. The airconditioning worked, but the hotel does face a busy traffic filled street and you can hear that during the night. The area is quiet dodgy, but it is very close to the tube station. We found the office staff ok, but the maintenance staff was quiet rude. Also the fact that one of our hand bags were stolen while we were in the dining room will tell you all about the staff. We thought one of the guests might have stolen the bag, but later realised that no one had walked passed the chair except for the dining room staff. Quiet disappointing behaviour!! i agree with Stellita's review, this hotel was horrible just for that experience. The rooftop terrace was pretty, but the breakfast was dismal, and btw the boiled eggs that are served in the morning are taken to the back kitchen - re-heated - and served again the next day...... nothing else needs to be said, but i would not recommend it to anyone.

This hotel is great for the price.
Only $85.00 US.
Great Location, Great Views.

My wife and I stayed here 3 times in one month.
We used it as our home base in Athens while we were on several ferry and bus trips around Greece.

It's very convenient to all the sites in Athens, only 3/4 of a block to the Metro.
No need for a cab, just 3 stops in any direction to the Parthenon, Plaka, Syntagma, Parliament, and Museums.

The best thing is the view from the roof top bar.
You can see all of Athens, including a direct profile view of the Parthenon. WOW!

The staff, Vreni and Kostos were very friendly and helpful.
They even called to re-book our bus tour when our ferry was delayed for bad weather.

I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about.
Sure it's a little noisy, It's downtown.
Sure it's not a 5 star resort with room service and valet parking,
but you can't find a better hotel anywhere in Athens for 85.00.

Thank you, Charlie & Carolyn Scott.

We stayed at the Apollo for 2 nights at the end of September.

The room was ok - clean but not well kitted out. Double bed consists of 2 seperate beds pushed together that slide apart. I ended up sliding down the gap in the middle a few times! Bed side table on one side only. Comes with a mini-bar, which is empty!! Small tv. Aircon ok.

Bathroom was small and poky. They have a big problem with their plumbing and water supply. There doesn't seem to be enough hot water in the hotel. I didn't manage to have a hot shower on either morning, and on one occasion the water just stopped coming out!! Also when emptying the bath water would come bubbling up from a small drain in the corner and cause a small flood in the bathroom. Weird and not nice.

I saw another review which menitoned that the internet is free - it isn't you have to pay 2euros for 15mins.

We asked for extra pillows for the bed as they only come with one each. Apparently this was a "big problem" for the guy at reception - apparently in a hotel with around 600 rooms, in off peak season (there's no way it was full) there aren't any spare pillows to get?

My girlfirend was bed bound for the two days after breaking her ankle so we wanted the pillows so she could put her leg up - no go.

I asked the guy for ice so that she could have an ice pack - again he was moody and unhelpful and said that as he was at reception on his own he couldn't get it for me. He said after 7 after 7. I went down at 7 and he was still there on his own but this time he quite happily nipped round the corner to the next room - the bar which is never staffed - and grabbed a load of ice for me - not sure what difference after 7 made for him!!!

The roof top bar is just that a few chairs and plastic tables stuck on top of their roof. The drinks are expensive, but the view is good.

On morning of departure I had to take our bags down stairs first leave them in the reception area, then go back up to help my girlfriend who couldn't walk unaided. The woman at reception litterally went nuts at me shouting saying that I couldn't leave my bags there and that I should just wait for my girlfriend as she was shure she'd be able to manage on her own!!!! I couln't believe how rude this woman was. Anyway I went to get her and come back down, threw the key for the room on the desk and couldn't leave quickly enough.

There are other cheap hotels in the area that have better reviews. Don't bother with this one is my honest advice.
