“Great choice for mid-range budget traveller”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

It was a good choice for us. We stayed there 4 nights on September 2013.
The most significant advantage is the location: 2 minutes walk from Syntagma square, which has a metro station of the line that goes from the airport. So its convenient when you first arrive in Athens by air. And has 2 of Athens metro lines going via this station. Tram station is also nearby.
But it's also good for most of the important sights: took us about 15 minutes walk to reach the Acropolis, Acropolis Museum & Temple of Olympean Zeus; a bit less for the Roman Agora and Monastiraki; The Parliament (for change of the guards) is actually at Syntagma square itself, and the National Gardens are adjacent to it.
The area of the hotel felt very safe, and we had no trouble going around in the streets nearby, even late at night. Lots of restaurants in this area, and it is also near the main shopping streets.
Now, the room: Well, it was small - but most rooms at the center of major cities, at mid-range hotels aren't large. And it was very clean and well air-conditioned. the view wasn't much, but we had a bit of a view to the Acropolis (not much though, and had to be next to the window for that...).
Breakfast was standard - toasts, croissants, Yogurt, corn-flakes, etc. it didn't have much variety, but was very filling and tasty.
The staff: in the single case that we needed them, were very helpful - we had bus tickets that we ordered online, and it was written in Greek only. They helped us with it, called the Bus company to understand from which station it departs (there are 2 central bus stations in Athens) and advised on how to get there by public transport.
The only drawback was a bit noise of the elevator at night, but it didn't prevent us from having a good sleep after another great day at Athens.

I definitely recommend this hotel for this price category - it was a good choice, and even above expectations.

Room Tip: Some rooms have some Acropolis view, which is nice of course.

Central location, clean and friendly efficient staff.
Air con. Not working in 2nd room(triple booked), therefore room was a bit stuffy. Ok value for money, standard continental breakfast included.
Wouls stay again for convenience of location and cleanliness of hotel.

My 13 year old son and I had a very nice stay in this hotel while we were in Athens in July 2013. We were very warmly welcomed by Kostas at reception and he could not have been more helpful in offering maps and making suggestions for great sightseeing around Athens. The other receptionists were equally friendly and helpful, making us feel at home and safe during our stay. It's not the fanciest hotel you could stay in. If you are planning to stay in your room during your stay in Athens maybe you should upgrade. If you need somewhere that's good value and centrally located and clean and safe, then I would recommend this hotel. The breakfast buffet was fresh and varied too. Thank you Kostas and everyone at the hotel for your hospitality.

We stayed here for 3 nights and we had an enjoyable stay. Room was clean, service and staff were good. We love the location. Right by Syntagma Square, close to everything. Very convenient. We like the fact that from the hotel we can take the X95 express right to the airport.
We would highly recommend this hotel in Athens.

Stayed at short notice with Family, they provided a family room that slept four, in two separate rooms divided by an excellent shower and bath facility together with very quiet air con. Breakfast was included , and it goes without saying that the staff were very friendly and clearly keen to please. The bill was 100 Euros all in, - given that other hotels in the vicinity charge more for the room and also for breakfast, the Pan Hotel is a place that we will stop at again in the future, - a very good deal and very comfortable.

Pan Hotel is highly recommended. I've stayed there for 2 nights for my first time. It was the only hotel to the range of its category that provided us with gluten free bread and rice milk. Not to mention the perfect location. For sure i will stay there again. The only negative was that it was i bit more expensive than the other similar hotels, but it was the only one that provided us with the special diet breakfast.
