“not so bad”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2012

The hotel is in a bad neighbourhood. When you leave the hotel turn left and walk 2blks and the street (Aiolou) is much better. You have a choice, turn left and you will find the National Archaeological Museum; turn right and after 3-4 blks you will find a street without cars on the way to Plaka square and the bottom of the Acropolis. At night after having a drink on a roof top terrace and enjoying the Acropolis all light up with lights my wife and I took a taxi home. Only 4 -5 eros and much safer. The hotel's staff are very friendly, and very helpful. Our room was good and the breakfast was also good. The bathroom was acceptable. The metro is close by. My wife and I never had a problem with the people of the neighbourhood. The price is great. The hotel would be a lot more expensive if it had a better location. We will stay here again.

Room Tip: Try to get a room in the back, not facing the street

“Bargain. Avoid if you got used to comfort”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2012

Stayed in Solomou in October 2012. The hotel is cheap and generally has nothing to critiсize. The location is nice. The room was clean, as well as bathroom, but it had no cnahces to be named cozy.
First day in Athens, first walk from the metro station to your hotel. You notice lots of prostitutes in the neighbourhood and the strong smell of urine from the place right next to the bar you can see from the window of your room. You come to the hotel and tell the guy in the receprtion (in Eglish) you need an iron. He asks the senior manager in Greek, if he must give me a new iron or the old one. He gives you a very old iron, but you're glad to get this retro device for free.
In the morning of the second day you have a poor breakfast and think about the strong noize from the night club you heard in the evening. You decide to close your windows to sleep well, but get up in the middleof the night because the air-condition works awful.
Unfortunatelly the hotel couldn't help me to enjoy my holydays in Athens. Avoid if you need a hotel for a long stay.

“Watch out for the neighborhood”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2011 via mobile

This hotel is located in a not so nice neighborhood, I stayed there for a congress and it had a very good price and it was near to a metro station.
However, only by the time we were already there, we found out that Omonia, once known for being a very nice neighborhood, was now popular for the prostitutes and drug dealers.
Anyway, we stayed there for 10 days and we used to walk a lot by night, and nothing happened.
I wouldn't recommend it if you are travelling with children or on a honeymoon, but as i said, it's not as dangerous as it seems, so if you are planning on saving a few bucks and you are travelling in a large group (we were a party of 7 by that time) it  shouldn't be a big problem.
Overall the hotel is really nice. Rooms are comfortable, the bathrooms are clean and the staff is very helpful.
In addition to that there is a really nice restaurant nearby, where they serve the perfect Greek food.
The staff of the hotel can help you arrange some trips but I would recommend you to get some information before in order to save a few bucks. We took the tour for Aegina, Poros and Hydra, and we found out (when the boat left us in Poros for being late), that there were other options to visit the islands (like the Flying Dolphins)

“Great value for money!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2011

We could not have been happier with this hotel, especially for the money (about $50 USD/night). The desk clerk was very helpful in getting us information about the sights to see, and calling us a cab to the cruise ship port (the Metro was on strike that day). The included breakfast was very good. As mentioned elsewhere, there are some seedy-looking cafes with some seedy-looking folks hanging around, but only in the daytime - we never saw them at night, and were not bothered during the day. It's just north of the Omonia Metro station, so within relatively easy walking distance of the Acropolis and Plaka district.

Room Tip: The higher up, the better, and be sure to request a balcony. If you get it, you'll have a great...
