Niki has a fabulous location on the edge of Plaka and within very easy walking distance of both Syntagma Square and the Acropolis. The hotel has recently been given a refurbishment and the reception/public areas have a nice "design" feel to them. Once away from the ground floor the refurbishment does extend to corridors and guest rooms but it has been poorly executed and the rooms, whilst modern, are actually quite basic. We also had a very poor night sleep since whilst they have modernised the rooms they have not invested in new air conditioning so the experience verged on being like a sauna. We couldn't even open the windows for a breeze since the area is so noisy 24 hours.

One futher word of caution - my partner and I booked a double room and after checking in and going to the room, we discovered it had twin beds and it was not possible to move them together. I complained and was told by an extremely rude manager on reception (a real thug!) that there was only one room in the whole hotel that has a double bed! Given that the hotel uses a very nice looking double room in its advertising I found this hard to accept. You should therefore avoid the hotel if you want wish to avoid sleeping on two narrow single beds.

The WORSE EXPERIENCE In a hotel.
We stayed there with my husband in June. The pictures from their website must be taken from another hotel.
The first room that they gave us was so small that we couldn't find a place for the bags!!! The shower was even smaller and you could barely close the door.
We asked for another room. The next one was a bit bigger but the door lock was broken and hanging out.. They said they would fix it but they didn't. t
We didn't got an apologise for the trouble they caused . They really ruined our vacations. The old guy at the front desk was very rood and was always fighting with the guests.
It was by far the worse hotel we have ever visited.

Probably best described as an attempted boutique hotel. The design is there, some quality details in the rooms (e.g. nice sheets), but not sufficiently executed/maintained.
Well located in the Plaka area, on a quiet street. The reception is fairly informal, but helpful for local information & advice. They generally do not organise services, and from our experience, we do not recommend using their suggestion of Apollo Car Rental (expensive, poor quality vehicles & service).
Modern rooms are clean but small, some have huge balconies. Our room was quiet & cool. Bathrooms are clean, but the door is frosted glass (limited privacy) & the shower had no curtain (wet floors).
Buffet breakfast is fairly simple. Wifi only available in cafe area.
Pleasant enough to stay in, and the price can be negotiated.

pictures can be very deceiving... we got to the hotel, which was located in a little alley, and we not greeted at all by the man at the desk. He was very unhelpful, and probably too old to be working. The rooms were very small, no air conditioning ( which is important in the hot summer months). Room was too small for two people, the shower was literally a 12'' by 12'' square. Better off staying at a hostile. Very unprofessional, the other man working at the desk was all tattooed up, not very nice, and not clean looking. Breakfast room was very dark, great look of a tiny alley, and not alot of food options. Cold meats and yogurt. Could not help with booking tours

We walked around the corner, to a 4 star hotel (the amalia hotel) and got a room for 5 euro more a night. Staff there was great and professional, great breakfast, big room, there is a tour group that meets right outside of the hotel, and they were very helpful with booking tours/suggesting restaurants and places to go. Air conditioning, mini bar, turn down service and right in the center of town.
