“A solid cheap hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013

If you are looking for a solid two star hotel, you have found the right one. Nothing to write home about the accommodations, but staff is very nice. Not in the nicest neighborhood or the most convenient one.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

We stayed in Aristoteles Hotel for 4 nights, March 20-March 24, 2013 – two doubles, rooms 601 and 604. Initially we reserved at Hotel Filoxenia, on the same street, and the reservation was confirmed 2 days previous to the trip, but one we reached the hotel we have been offered rooms in Aristoteles, for the same price, which was incredibly low: 8.5 eur/person/night (yes, it’s not a mistake, we paid 136 eur for 2 doubles and 4 nights each). Rooms in Aristoteles were decent (standard), with balcony, air conditioning (that we used for heating), refrigerator and hairdryer and toiletries in the bathroom. Nothing fancy, but clean. Breakfast was standard but filling; the big advantage was that they served breakfast as early as 6:30 in the morning which was extremely convenient since for the first two days we started really early. Personnel was extremely nice.
The hotel is quite close (10 min walk) form Omonia square; the area is however not very good, there are homeless people sleeping on the street. Therefore, after midnight we took a taxi to return to the hotel and it was very convenient, less than 5 euros from the centre. We walked only once, ant 9 pm, and although it looked quite grim we did not feel threatened.
All in all, we considered Aristoteles a good choice for budget travel, the price was exceptional and we got a lot of value for what we paid, so we recommend it for people that look for a place to sleep and to shower, at a very convenient price.

Well , for the money I paid everything was perfect , very clean, decent breakfast and very polite staff. Me and my spouse stayed there for three days and everything was much better than what you would expect from a ** hotel. The rooms were cleaned thoroughly on a daily basis and the staff was very helpful with our queries concerning the sights of Athens and its nightlife. So give them some slack !!

I will start with the good as it will be easier. The rooms were CHEAP!!! and clean but that is where the good review will end! The 2 good points will be great for people that want clean and cheap but the rooms were no more than 'barrack' rooms. There was a bed, wardrobe, dresser with no drawer knob, and that is it! Not even a main bin for general waste! As for the man that got a shaving kit in previous reviews, well, that is above and beyond, as all we got was 2 x micro sized soap bars that would not do the average person for a 4 day traveller. We didn't even have enough toilet roll for our stay and we had to go back to reception to get towels after the wet ones were removed but not replaced. On the staff, polite but unhelpful would best describe. The hotel, including the reception area, was dark and badly lit. It was NOTHING like the website photo's. The hotel was noisy even though people tried to be quite. You can only pee as quietly as possible, the rooms echoed everything. We asked for a quiet room with balcony, we got woken most of the night and our 'window' overlooked a wall roughly 2 metres away from us.
The area is ok, no different from other posh regions like the Plaka region, you get eastern europeans begging no matter where you are. Although, we did not go out after dark as it was threatening enough in daylight. The good news (!?) was the hotel proudly, and with no form of apology, anounced the restaurant and bar area was only open at breakfast!!! Great! An unfriendly part of Athens and we had to go out if we wanted to eat................Crisps and wine got us through till daylight!

In short, we would book again for clean and cheap BUT there are plenty of better throughout the area although not all are clear of begging etc no matter the area.

We stayed at the Hotel Aristoteles for a week in March, and found it very comfortable and great value for money.

The location for us couldn't be beat - a short walk from the Athens main train station (AKA Larissa), and Omonia Square - the nearest Metro station, which takes you to the Acropolis, and anywhere else you want to go. It is, as has been said elsewhere, in a bit of a rough neighbourhood, although it did not feel dangerous. The street people did not bother us, but just be aware as you go out and about, and keep your valuables close (always wise).

The room was quite spacious and clean, with a nice hot shower, good storage, air con (for heating during our late winter stay), and a balcony with street views. There are two lifts & good wifi access, and a refrigerator in the room. The reception staff speak excellent English, French, Greek, & probably other languages, and are very helpful. Housekeeping was regular and very thorough. An ample breakfast with nice coffee (to our Australian palates) is included.

Couple of little things: 1) the air con is a bit noisy - we turned it off for sleeping. 2) the room fridge turned off with the other electricity when we removed our key from the slot to go out. No biggie; just don't leave perishables in it if you go out for long periods .

There are not a lot of dining options nearby after dark, but there is a great Romanian restaurant that you can see from the entry of Aristoteles; it is on the other side of the carpark across from the hotel, and it stays open late. The name in Greek is ΤΟ ΙΑΣΙΟ and in Romanian IAȘU'. You can also get a nice set meal with a great view from the Hondo Centre in Omonia Square.

We would recommend the Aristoteles for budget travellers and would happily return.

The bed was very comfortable, room was very modern and had everything we needed. Hotel was in a great location, within walking distance to the train station, shops, restaurants . The staff were very helpful, gave us a map and pointed out local attractions and places to eat. I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back side are quieter .
