“Excellent hotel and location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

This hotel was recommended to us by a friend - and we were not disappointed. The hotel is ideally situated for its location to the tourist sights, the shops, the Acropolis. The hotel has a fantastic view of the Acropolis from the Breakfast Room/Restaurant, which is situated on the roof of the hotel. Our room was very nice; clean and tidy, cleaned every day with the bed sheets and towels also being changed every day. All the staff, especially the Receptionists, were very friendly and helpful, offering advice on travel and the sights and information about the area. Because of its central location, many of the archeological sites were within walking distance.
I would have no trouble recommending this hotel to family and friends.

Room Tip: Take a trip round the City on one of the tour buses to get information on the local sights (great va...

The location in the Plaka is great, which is a plus. It was very frustrating to arrive to find there was not a bellman to help get the luggage up the flight of stairs. The two rooms we were given had terrible bathrooms...very, very moldy. The place is quaint but is in need of serious remodeling. The breakfast buffet was mediocre to say the least.

Started our trip to Greece by staying 3 nights at this great little hotel. We had 4 rooms for our group, all with Acropolis views. The staff were extremely helpful and we found that so many important sites were right at our doorstep. It was so good that we plan to go back for our last 2 nights in Greece. Great value too!

We have stayed at Magna Grecia many times over the last 5 years and it is evident that the owners are trying to upgrade it bit by bit. However, it is in the Plaka and this means that there is likely to be an element of quirkiness. Housed in a beautiful neo-classical building, the colour schemes in some of the rooms are a bit bizarre and if you do not book an Acropolis view you may not have any natural light in the room. Nevertheless, having stayed at three of the most exclusive hotels in Athens I can say with come conviction that the view of the Acropolis from Magna Grecia beats them hands down. Yes the plumbing is a bit hit and miss, yes the lift is tiny, yes the dinning room is small (they are in the process of building a roof) and yes some of the rooms are quirky but at the end of the day you are right in the middle of the Plaka and all the fun that is to be had there.

Room Tip: With so many bars and tavernas/ restaurants in the Plaka do not stay in the hotel for food - get out...

An atrocious stay in Athens - not at all value for money. Yes, the view from the breakfast room is great - but the breakfast is so poor, and the room itself so shabby you're better off going to a tourist place for a beer later in the day. The rooms were mediocre at best. We had a leak from our toilet - when I raised it with the reception, I was told that it was normal and not to worry...

Don't stay here. You will get no value for your money.

Lovely hotel, in good setting, but as always singletons get the worst rooms. My room was small and decorated lovely but it had no natural light. It was closed off into a courtyard. There is nothing as bad not knowing the natural time of day.

Was really looking for a nice and cozy place in this district...First night stayed in a room with only one window to a staricase as agency messed up my reservation (I did book with view)...Seems several rooms have view to staircase!!!... Staff was not very helpfull so had to stay there for the frist night. Got my view room next day...very small, and my collegue next door had a much bigger room...So it seems like its a chance what you get... .Rooms nice old style, but some have built in bathrooms taking even more space away. Closets are like furniture from 1970's not matching the rest of the old and nice style... Place has soooo much more potential in it....View is really nice, although the church bells are loud if you are a light sleeper. Restaurant at roof top nice but very small. Breakfast has a very disappointing selection of food especially if you are staying for for many days....not what you would expect from 4*. In short: Nice place but several things need improvement.....

The location is really good. Plaka disctirct is great, hundreds of restaurants and bars around the hotel.
