Magna Grecia Hotel. Small boutique hotel in Plaka area in Athens. The very best location with the best view of the Acropolis. Shopping right outside your door. Ermou street 2 minute walk. 1 minute to the flea market streets. Great Greek restaurants across the street. Syntagma Square 7 minutes, Starbucks across the street. Mc Donalds at The Syntagma Square. 7 minute walk. Everything you need or want close by. The staff is excellent very friendly and helpful. Marie who works at the desk is american-greek. Perfect english & greek. She is the best. Very limited parking in the whole city. Good hot & cold free breakfast. On the top of the hotel with great view. Free high speed internet. Staff 100% more then happy!! Very clean. I will go back. Brought small dog. Free of Charge. Very welcomed
The street that views the Acropolis is noisy but you are in the heart of a great city. 700 Euros Mar 02 thru Mar 08

“Friendly, well located hotel with EXCELLENT Acropolis views”

Very comfortable hotel with great location and outstanding views of the Acropolis. Very friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast and altogether very enjoyable. Certainly a 'hôtel de charme' - the rooms have a lot of character so this is NOT a hotel for people looking for everything to be standardised and bland.

Highly recommended!

What a very unique and special experience we found at the
Magna Grecia. Our first night in Athens, with a view of the Acropolis
and so very close to the mall, the wonderful outdoor dining areas
and all the services we needed were within walking distance.
Thoroughly recommend this hotel as a "special" treat with a quite
reasonable price. Homecooked brekkie added the icing!

    • Liked — the romantic setting ie view of the Acropolis and the tasteful decor
    • Disliked — steps were a little steep

lLooking for a small romantic hotel for our ist anniversary we thought this was it-WRONG-Check i n went smoothly the room had a wonderful view and was very small after you picked your way thru piles of laundry bags strewn acroos the hallway-it looked like the illegal handbag men used the area as a storage room.Upon returning from dinner with local friends we were horrified to find a bicycle chain and padlock across the hotel doors. We could hear the tv and phone ringing from our repeated attempts to arouse the night clerk. Finally at 130am 45minutes later and after two attempts to find rooms in nearby hotels the phone was answered by a very rude man who said he had gone to the toilet for 5 minutes only-our cell phone records disproved that! In addition he threatened us as we tried to get into the elevator to our room. In the morning the owner appologized but offered nothing in the way of compensation for our truly nightmarish experience and so we ckecked into the plaka down the street same view professionally run in pleasant contrast. I think paying $200.00 should get you better service than a hostel in this case it did not!

“No good value for money”

Magna Grecia Boutique Hotel

Sep 30, 2007

We spent one night at Magna Grecia. As we often visit Athens, we can say that the location of the hotel is ideal: in the heart of Plaka, within a walking distance you have the best spots such as Acropolis hill, Monastiraki, Psirri, Syntagma square.
The hotel building is an old restored building full of carpets, wooden floors, painted ceilings.
We got an Acropolis view room. The room itself was cute, with smart curtains and two windows on the church square. Yet, the room door couldn’t be locked properly, the fan in the bathroom was extremely noisy like the continous leaking pipe in the WC.
Breakfast was terrible: croissants visibly unfrozen in the oven, old bread, no waiter around to help. The breakfast room opens on a huge terrace with Acropolis view, not accessible due to works in progress.
Definitely not good value for money. For the same price you can get much better service in the same area.
