We picked this hotel because it is close to the center. Everything was pretty good except one thing that upset me. I put in my reservation that I am a light sleeper and need a quiet room.

Apparently they just ignored it. After I told them I did not sleep for the first night, the front desk said my room on a busy road (4 lane high way) was Quiet. I did not fight, just kindly requested a quiet room. We finally got a quiet room on the third night.

Beside that, everything was great. The location is not good for Subway, 10 minutes walking. But we walked 15 minutes to Acropolis, Plaka, and another 10 minutes to Agora.

We had a family room on 6th floor for 4 of us including two children. The size is pretty good. I think the price is €220 for three nights including the breakfast.
Breakfast buffet was great, hot ones were beacon, sausages, omelette, fried/boiled eggs; cold ones were ham, cheeses, a lot of Greek things like olive, etc.. Cereals and canned fruits, also fresh apples.

They have a little bottle of wine and the fruit as a welcome treat in your room. They have nice robes on your bed and also free slippers. The bathroom sink and floor are all marbles.

We stayed at the Illissos Hotel for the first two days of our holiday to Greece early October 2012. The reception staff were cheerful and helpful, along with restaurant and bar staff. We had pizza from the bar brought up to the roof terrace overlooking the Acropolis. Nothing grand about this terrace - really a slab of concrete roof terrace - but do you know what - sometimes that's better than being surrounded by an uber cool and trendy environment and the accompanying guests.

We walked everywhere so didn't use the Metro but if you are fit and healthy that's no problem. The neighbourhood not the most salubrious on first examination but walk a bit further to find a lovely pedestrianised street with restaurants and bars going the full length. Mainly Athenians eating there - so well away from the tourists.

Not luxury but perfectly fine and very reasonably priced.

Enjoy!

Hotel location is good.8 minutes walking to Metro Station,10-15 minutes to Plaka Zone and Touristic Sites.Me and My wife stayed there for three nights.we were in 5th Floor in northern side.
we had not Acropolis view and it was covered by some Buildings.A school is close to this side and too noisy.A/C is working on and Off and Internet Speed is not Good as they have not a WPA or lock and its public.you can not find Tea or Coffee Facility in the room and you should order it to room service.they have a little bottle of local wine as complimentary.roof garden is good for sitting but they will open its door from 10 PM and will close around 11AM.
Rooms are Clean and Breakfast is ok.most of Reception Staffs are helpful. In beside alleys you can find many cozy restaurants.Booking price was the most interested thing for us to go to this Hotel. Finally the balance between price and quality is fair.

Room Tip: Northern rooms are noisy.

We had a Junior suite with an Acropolis view. The room was really spacious but with the amount to see in Athens, we hardly spent any time there! There was a 'Welcome'pack of water, wine and fruit which was a nice touch.
The hotel is a 5-10 minute walk from the Syngrou-Fix metro, and the Acropolis area is around a 20 minute walk. Some reviews have commented on the area around the hotel, and whilst its not 'pretty' its safe to walk even at night. There is a street just back from the park with plenty of bars and quite a few restaurants around the metro stop area. We really liked these as we were not in the usual tourist area, its more of a residential area.
The taxi from the airport was a fixed 35 euros, but luckily I had checked with the hotel that they were in that area and not the 50 euros area, the taxi driver tried charging us the higher rate but I gave him the 35 euros I'd already got ready and he was then ok!
The metro tickets are 1.40 and are valid for 90 minutes after the first validation, but we got the 14.00 for 7 days, even though the centre of Athens is quite compact, using the metro was quicker and we could fit more in!
The hotel also provides free Wi-fi, which we didnt use but did use the 2 terminals for free, located in the reception area. As there were strikes planned during our visit it was good to keep informed of these, although the reception staff were very helpful with this.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel, they are quieter.

The view from our room was excellent. Our balcony faced the Acropolis and the Parthenon. It was especially beautiful at night. The staff were very helpful and the rooms were clean.

The room, however, was very small with older decor. The sheets on the double bed were too small for two people, and too short for the bed. It seemed like twin sheets stretched over a double bed. It did not feel like a "4 star" hotel, as advertised.
