We just returned from 2 stays @ the Art Hotel. Each one was a lovely experience. I selected this hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews & we were not disappointed.

As nearly everyone has mentioned the staff are exceptional. From the manager Miranda to the bell hop everyone seemed to work as a team whose mission was to insure a pleasant stay for their guests.

On our first day @ the hotel I went upstairs exploring to see what the rest of the facility looked like. I encountered the 2 lovely women cleaning who while they didn't understand English were anxious to allow me to see even the rooftop area.

The hot breakfast buffet was exceptional! We even had bruschetta most mornings in addition to scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, breads beau coup, and assorted cereals. We found nothing to compare with this in our stays elsewhere in Greece.

Yes there is traffic noise from the rooms facing the street, but closing the windows and earplugs are very helpful as is the use of air conditioning. The rooms were clean with a mini fridge as well as a great hairdryer in the bathroom. We found the beds quite comfortable (we had the 2 pushed together during our 1st stay & twins the 2nd stay). The beds throughout Greece are very firm which is to our liking, so that worked out well for us.

We walked throughout the neighborhood without concern. As mentioned it's an interesting walk to the Acropolis from the hotel & an easy ride on the Metro with the Omonia stop being just a 5 minute walk away.

We choose this hotel because it was a boutique hotel. Rooms were not that big but acceptable for a european price. We we arrived at the hotel which was so hard to find from a long walk from the omonia metro stop. The moment we stepped in, wee were served with drinks of our choice. The hotel door and signage face the other way is you coming from omonia square, so you have to look whats behind you. Its a corner hotel with white facade. The women in-charge was really helpful. First, she explained to us about athens and the sites to see and gave us tips as we were first timers. Then we were able to choose 3 different rooms until we settled in room 208. Each room has its own decor. Our room didnt have a view since i don't want to be disturbed early morning with street cars honking . The bathrooms was small and have no free amenities. They were also helpful to us since our luggage did not arrive with our flight from milan. They told us not to worry as this always happens and the luggage will just be delivered to the hotel. Breakfast was great but not a lot of choices. The hotel has a lovely spot where you can use the laptop for free internet access. Its really a big help for those travelling without their laptops. The only thing we didnt like is the location. It's really a long walk from Omonia metro stop. But once you are in omonia sqaure, everything is "walkable". we even walked upto monstriki, plaka and syntagma sqaure. We ddint feel tired since we had a lot of fun seeing everything in the streets. service was really excellent!

We booked this hotel based on the previous reviews and we weren't disappointed, in fact it far exceeded our expectations and it is without doubt the best hotel experience I have ever had.

The hotel is not owned by a chain, and the owners go out of their way to make your stay special. We booked a suite, which had a beautiful balcony and a jacuzzi.

Directions: We traveled from the airport by metro and got off at Omonia Square. To get your bearings, head towards the Hondos Centre (you can't miss it) and take the street on the right called September Street. Continue until you see a bicycle shop in front of you and turn left down that street, then take the next left again and the hotel is on the corner, but its easy to miss, as it doesn't have huge flags outside, etc. Its a 5 to 10 minute walk. There is a supermarket nearby which is handy for stocking up water etc;

We were warmly welcomed and offered freshly squeezed orange juice and beautiful chocolate cake; very much appreciated after an early flight from the UK. Lisa gave us a handy map of Athens and recommended all the attractions and local restaurants, Pozanta near the archeological museum has great salads and is always busy. We walked everywhere in Athens, Plaka is about a 15 - 20 minute walk.

The room was amazing; original artwork, beautiful furniture, excellent satellite TV, lovely toiletries. We were sent a free bottle of wine which was a lovely gesture.

Breakfast was a buffet style and we had enormous amounts each morning! Sausages , mushrooms and scrambled eggs are available as well as fruit, cereals, teas, croissants, etc

The free internet access was very popular and very handy, as we were on our way to a cruise of the Greek Islands. Pireus was easily reached direct from Omonia.

Again, the owners were very kind and offered us our room for as long as we needed, so that we could relax before leaving; no pressure to pack by a certain time or check out; and at no extra charge which I found amazing; I can't believe how kind they were.

We were so impressed that we asked to stay for a night after our cruise ended and again we were welcomed with open arms and again they offered us the room for as long as we needed before our flight.

I will definitely be going back to this wonderful hotel; the owners are exceptional, and I wouldn't even think of staying anywhere else in Athens.

PS If you're a light sleeper, bring earplugs, as Athens is a noisy city.

I have to agree with Chemkid I really wanted to give this hotel a good rating because the folks there try so hard to please. We had a similiar experience with the lady who runs the place as she and the staff just bent over backwards trying to make the stay nice. If it were just the enthusiasm of the staff, this hotel would get a high rating from us, but the reality is that the location is not the best [in the red light district just one block from the police station] and an adventure to walk away from even in the light of day.

It is nicely located after a ten minute walk but those first 10 minutes are amazing! T

So would I stay there again? Only if they move the building!!

I've been travelling with my girlfriend the last 10 years at least twice a year everywhere in the world and my experience with this hotel was one of the best I ever had. First it is very reasonably priced. Free internet and great breakfast- then you get this easy going atmosphere inside the hotel that makes you feel like you are at home. And the staff does not pretend-really cares how to make your stay easy and enjoyable. They gave us maps and tips and recommended excellent restaurants where locals go. 10 minute walk from the hotel is a very cute square called xarchia full of cafes and restaurants full of young greeks. I really liked more this side of Athens than the touristy Plaka area where everything there is made for tourists and you don't see even one local walking by.
We found this hotel very centrally located and next to Omonoia square an area full of hotels but this one seemed the best. Also by metro you can go anywhere we never had to take the taxi, we even went to the airport by metro to avoid any kind of bad experience with taxi drivers.
We will definitely return to Art Hotel and recommend it to everyone!
