We recently had the pleasure of staying at the AVA Hotel in Athens. We had looked over the many brochures travel agents had shown us and were unable to find apartments at a reasonable price close to the centre of Athens which could accommodate the four of us. We then found the AVA mentioned on another website and decided to give it a go. We are very glad we did. From our second storey balcony [there is only two storeys] we had magnificent views of Hadrian's Arch to our left and the Acropolis to our right. Our street was relatively quiet most of the time. Only on Friday and Saturday night a little noisier as it lead to The Plaka where you then have a huge choice of restaurants/tavernas and shops starting approx. 150 metres away. The staff at the AVA could not do enough for us in the way of organising tours, soccer tickets and directions to various sites and were always very pleasant on our way out for the day and when arriving back again. Breakfast was supplied in the price of 230 eurs per night and was more than adequate. We had two teenage sons with us and they were more than happy with the choices of food. Our room contained suitable bedding facilities for the four of us; a lovely bathroom, air con, kitchen facilities, desk, tv, plenty of cupboard space and was a pleasure to come back to each day. Housemaid staff were very efficient and courteous. We thouroughly enjoyed our stay and are normally fairly picky regarding city accommodation, so we were very happy with the outcome.
