“Charming Hotel in a great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

We stayed here for two nights on the tail end of our trip This was actually the second hotel we stayed at in Athens and we like it the better than the other comparably priced hotel. . Very large room, desk area and kitchenette. There was fresh fruit in our room upon arrival. The room had many amenities including a magnifying mirror, wash cloths and dvd player. The bathroom had an 110 volt outlet in the bathroom for shavers along with an additional adapter/converter in the bedroom for converting 110 volts to 220. We were two women traveling together and appreciated the well lit bathroom and an additional larger mirror in the desk area We also found a second hair dryer in the desk. .Free wireless internet worked perfectly. There are also computers and a printer available for guests to use free of charge. The staff greeted us warmly upon arrival and were always very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect and you can walk to many of the main tourists attractions. ATM, restaurant and "mini-mart" are right down the street. I highly recommend this hotel.

Located in the Plaka, close to main tourist attractions, restaurants and shopping. We could walk around day or night and be entertained and feel safe. The room was very spacious, well appointed and had a kitchenette. The only small complaint would be that the shower is very small and somewhat awkward -- no place to set your toiletries down. Free WiFi worked well and the breakfast in the lobby was good. Check-in was very friendly and efficient and we were greeted with a bottle of champagne in our room.

Ava Hotel is located just next to the Acropolis and right beside the Plaka area with loads or shopping and restaurants. The staff were very friendly and helpful, our suite was huge with plenty of room for for 2 adults and 1 child. Wifi works very well. A great option for an Athens holiday stay.

Room Tip: Ask for an executive suite. They are a great family option.

executive room was quite beautiful - very royal feel. large, nice balcony with side view of acropolis - but not cheap! we were looking for a splurge since it was our honeymoon. they greeted us with champagne. breakfast could be a bit bitter in the lobby, but thats okay -- surrounded by history and great greek food.

I forgot to write about the AVA Hotel when my son and I visited Athens last spring. We loved this hotel - great location - so friendly and we had a perfect room with a great balcony and great view of the Parthenon ! I highly recommend this hotel - comfortable and convenient and all around great place to stay in Athens.

This place is fantastic with top notch service and staff

Highlights:
- SUPER close to all the mega tourist attractions
- Rooms are very big, comfortable and clean
- Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful with all the recommendations

Lowlights:
- None
- You ARE by all the tourist traps....not a lot of "authentic" greek experiences

If you are looking for an A+ hotel next to acropolis and museums, look no further.

Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Ok, perhaps the "great view of the Acropolis" is over-stating it a little, at least from our room which looked onto an air conditioning unit and a small courtyard, but who needs a great view while you are asleep in your room when the whole damn lot is just outside your front door when you wake up. We stayed for 3 nights with our twin 12 year old boys and could not have asked for a better experience as a first introduction for them to Athens, its classical antiquities, restaurants and general vibe. Everything we wanted to do was in manageable walking distance, the hotel's dvd loan service provided night time entertainment if the parents decided to stay on at a local restaurant while the boys made their way back to the hotel, the breakfast catered for all tastes and age groups, and the staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. My only complaint was the number of rude guests we noticed who seemed to have no sense of common courtesy when dealing with hotel staff. Unbelievable! Oh and one other tip....make sure to try the Segway tour of either the Acropolis or the Botanical Gardens. You don't have to be 12 to get a real thrill from this if you have never ridden a Segway before.

Room Tip: If the view matters to you, you had probably better ask for it!
