“like being on an island”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

If you are a tourist in Athens and you dream on Greek islands definitely go there.
Use the Acropolis stop of the metro line, and walk to Anafiotika.
It is like being in Aegean and being in Athens the same time. The view of the city is extraordinary.
You can take some cool photos and enjoy the walk.
As you start going down you will find yourself in Plaka where you can have a coffee, a meal or buy some souvenirs.

“A breath of the islands, right in the city center”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

Little Anafi is about as charming an area as you can find in a city the size of Athens. A wander here will turn up shops and restaurants much better than in the Plaka. Plus, you'll often be surrounded by Greeks, as opposed to other tourists.
There are a few really good restaurants in here too. Your hotel desk staff will likely be able to recommend one or two.

“Village under the Acropolis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

the windey lanes and little houses on the side of a hill make you think you are in a tiny village. It is a fascinating place and is one way of walking up to the acropolis

“Picturesque and ecological with panoramic views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

a perfect walk before going to the New Acropolis Museum: start at Monastiraki metro station, pass the Adrian library, light a candle in the Church of Theotokos "Grigoroussa", admire the Roman Agora with the Tower of the Winds and climb up : less then 50 houses in "Cycladic" style cling to the Acropolis wall, there is even an art museum Kanellopoulou. The tavern "Spilia" is good for a cup of coffee or more.

“The islands in the middle of Athens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

Everyone who comes and visits the Acropolis needs to visit this wonderful area right below the sacred rock. I felt like I was in an island and the narrow streets with the white houses are a wonderful diversion from the hustle and bustle of Athens. Let yourself get lost in this area.
