“Good food honest bill”

We liked the food and atmosphere! Don't be intimidated because it is too small! Just make a booking! Honest charges too!

“Great restaurant!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

I recently visited Alepou with my wife and two friends. Although it is a new restaurant, it already came very highly recommended.

Alepou is situated in Kolonaki, the hi-end commercial the center of Athens. It serves “mezedes” which is the Greek equivalent of the Spanish “tapas”.

The restaurant is small and cozy, with modern tasteful décor. It can be a bit cramped at times, so perhaps it is best to avoid peak hours. The service is cheerful and accommodating.

In charge of the menu is the famous Greek Chef Giannis Baxevanis, and the result is truly delightful.

What is very interesting about this restaurant (and something they haven’t publicized enough) is that everything served there (all the ingredients, drinks, wines, etc) is 100% Greek. For example if you ask for Coke you will get “Lux Cola” the Greek equivalent, which I must admit is very good.

The food is elegantly served in small oval plates and small metal cooking pots. Some of the dishes to definitely try are: fantastic eggplant salad, egg-roe salad with prawn chips, liver with caramelized onions, meatballs in feta sauce, beef tagliata, and of course the excellent homemade dark bread. For desert you must have the “galaktoboureko” which is prepared fresh and served warm so it must be ordered well in advance.

The red house wine we had was also very good.

Most dishes are priced from 6-8 euros, and as far as overall cost I am sure you will find excellent value for money.

Dining at Alepou was a delightful experience, and we will definitely be back soon!
