“Beautiful artifacts & views”

Quite an enjoyable experience...great foto ops around the outside & as a bonus, they do allow fotos inside. There is a lot to see here & well-worth the walk-through! :D

“Wonderful stroll”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2014

The ticket of the ancient agora is included in the Acropolis (along with a few other sites). It includes a museum but the grounds outside is actually huge with lots of things to see - including the Temple of Hephaestus. Before we went its website says it closes at 3pm, but it's actually 8pm during the summer. It's a nice stroll around if you've got some time, it's amazing to walk in the footsteps of Socrates and Plato :) There isn't much explanations besides a little pamphlet they sometimes provide at the entrance but overall it's a worthwhile visit.

“The entire Ancient Agora is amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2014

The Ancient Agora contains this museum but, the entire open area of the Agora is beautiful. The museum is not very big so you can see everything in it withing a short period of time. It's outside of the museum, but in the Agora, that I enjoyed the most. The Hephaistion is incredible to behold when you see how well preserved it is for being a nearly 2500 year old structure. There is also a 1000 year old church on the site. What Socrates used to lecture here. Merchants peddled their good here and most people traveling through Athens came through here. To me it's very cool that something so historic still exists and that we still have access to it. For the most part you can wonder unrestricted. There are some things that are roped off obviously for good reason.

If you plan on seeing many of the ancient sites in Athens, look into getting a pass for about 12 Euro that gives you access to all sites on the Unification of Archaeological Sites path.

“Take the time to visit this restored building and it's treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2014

If you have the time, visit this wonderful little museum and it's surrounding park like oasis. The museum is housed in an almost fully restored building, to the chagrin of the Greeks. This was an important space during ancient times, as both a marketplace and a civic centre. Take a moment to sit on the porch, enjoy the birds and the lack of tourists.

Within the walls, one will enjoy some excellent pottery, statues, and even battle shields. The second floor houses more statues and great vistas of the surrounding area and the Temple of Hephaistos. Photo opportunities galore.

The site is free with your multi-ticket from the Acropolis. There is also a clean little WC.

“A very small collection, nothing compared to the outside area.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2014

Positioned within the Agora museum is an exhibition of ancient art objects , including the countless statues and bas-reliefs set out on the porch outside the museum , you can see also in the works in bronze, busts , ceramics, coins, arms short a good collection of ancient objects.
Definitely worth a visit , the price is € 12 but with the same ticket you can visit the whole area including the Agora and the surrounding temples all over the Acropolis .
