Although located in the historic heart of Athens, the hotel has a clean contemporary feel with blond wood floors and unfussy decor in the rooms. It's an easy 4 block walk from the terminus (Syntagma Square) of the X95 bus from the airport. During my 7 day stay I found it easy and safe to get around on foot and walked to all the .major sights. The Acropolis is just up the hill and several interesting museums are nearby. The major pedestrian shopping streets are just 2 blocks away. The hotel bed was comfortable and the big, plush bathroom towels better than you'd find in many higher priced hotels. I also appreciated having a handheld shower in addition to the standard overhead shower. Although there's no view, the breakfast room is sunny and the breakfast itself is generous (bacon, omelette, hardboiled eggs, cheese, coldcuts, cheese pastry, cake, yogurt, cereal, fruit) and good. Hotel staff, particularly the breakfast server and the night clerk, were friendly and helpful. I had an economy double (Room 102), which though small, included a comfortable upholstered chair, something I had particularly requested because as an older solo traveler, I am usually in the room in the evening. The hotel has a list of restaurant recommendations, and I can enthusiastically endorse the Tzitzikas & Mermigas Restaurant. I'd probably be rating this hotel even higher if it didn't pale a bit in comparison with the comparable Dara Hotel in Istanbul where I stayed last year at about the same time for about half the price. Anyone with mobility issues should be aware that while the Sweet Home has an elevator, guests must climb a flight of stairs to get to the hotel.
