A rather nice hotel in an abominable slum, high crime area. Don't stay here!
I was barely out of the Omonia metro station, on the day we arrived, and I was pickpocketed. My wallet, cash and cards all gone. The desk clerk was sympathetic- for a limited time, then seemed to avoid me.
During the day, the hotel is surrounded by three small local gangs, dispersed now and then by the police. A heavy Moslem presence is notable. At night, a new set of hooligans take over the streets as well as large number of Georgian night spots. The hotel doorman quickly whisks exiting guests into a taxi, with the warning that the streets are unsafe. The taxi driver demands double the accepted fare...bargain!
This could be a wonderful hotel. The rooms are large, bright and well-kept., the lobbly very impressive.
Major defect- breakfast. Same items every day- and we were there for a week. "Scrambled eggs"- made from powder, too watery. Poached eggs- prepared in huge quantities once every few days. Bacon undercooked. Coffee...pale brown liquid of no noticeable taste.
In sum...until urban renewal and a kitchen revolution- go elsewhere.
