This hotel is very high quality, very convient (less than a minute walk from the airport), very friendly staff. Not cheap but worth the money.

The Athens Airport Sofitel Hotel is the ideal place to stay if you have an early flight to catch from Athens. We stayed there for two nights recently on our way back from the Greek islands before heading back to the US. It is literally right across from the airport terminal. You just walk out the hotel door, cross the pedestrian pathway, and you are in the terminal. It doesn’t get more convenient than that. It’s also right next to the airport train and metro station, which is a great way to get into Athens. It beats staying in Athens and having to lug your luggage through the trains and transfers in the wee hours of the morning, or risking the notoriously bad traffic of Athens and missing your flight. If we didn’t have an early flight, I would prefer to stay in the city, but for an 0700 flight, we are certainly glad we stayed there. Apart from the convenience, the rooms are very spacious, modern, clean, and the bathrooms are very large. It has a typical large, modern hotel atmosphere. Everything is very expensive, but keep in mind the convenience for that early flight. The sweat and frustration you’ll save are well worth it.

We arrived at 10pm into Athens, and were booked on a 7am ferry the following morning. So it made no sense for us to make the trek into the centre of Athens for only a few hours. We booked the Sofitel through lastminute.com for £110. It was just outside the doors of arrivals at the airport - a 2 minute walk. The gentleman at the desk was very friendly and very helpful. They booked a taxi for us for the following morning, and chatted to us about our impending trip around the islands. We were very impressed with the quality of the room (especially the shower!) and spent a few hours in the bar upstairs, overlooking the airport runway. Much better than traveling around in the dark to a remote hotel - just what we needed!

Like everyone else, stayed for the evening before an early morning flight. Hotel is directly across the entrance to the airport and directly at the entrance to the metro trains. Beautiful, stylish hotel. Cannot find anything to complain about. Ate in the 9th floor restaurant; food, services, and view were excellent, particularly when considering this is an airport hotel. Bed was extremely comfortable - the best bed out of the 5 hotels in Greece I stayed in on this trip. To be honest, this hotel is much above the "four-star" category of Athens hotels. With the convenience of the metro line, it's worth considering staying at the Sofitel rather than a more conveniently located central Athens hotel.
