“Walking time travel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013 via mobile

It is a picture of Athens back in the 50's or even prior to that! You can reach Plaka from the metro of Monastiraki,Thiseio or Metro of Acropolis. It depends on how much you would like to walk. Narrow streets, with no traffic at all, small buildings and a lot of internal gardens are the main characteristics of Plaka. A place ideal for lovers of Romance and The old good days of Athens! Ydria,Amaltheia and Melina are probably the 3 best coffee spots with excellent service. Restaurants are good as well, give them a try

“Nostalgy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

A walk through the narrow streets of Plaka is always a pleasant destination, that exhales a tone of nostalgy, like a trip to Athens of few decades ago

“Historic but crowded!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

If you're looking for shopping, cafés and restaurants, the Plaka is the place to be. Be prepared for crowds and shop owners eager to sell you something. If you like to "haggle" for a good price enjoy! Bring your "A" game. You'll be up against some great wheeler dealers.

“A hub of activity”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

Wonderful, lively area with many cute streets, bars, cafes and restaurants. Flea market, shops and good public transport. Also close to Thissio, another great area. Within walking distance of Acropolis.

“Nice area to Explore”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

The Plaka area is a very interesting place for tourists to explore. There is a wide variety of shops and restaurants as well as ruins. The squares are filled with street muscians and performers.
