“Beware”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

Plaka was full of life and a must to visit however most shops had the same cheap trinkets and if you dine at one of the many places within Plake you will surely be harassed by Gypsey children playing their accordion for you then begging for money or Gypsey women pushing goods on you and at times appeared aggressive.

“A Bit Touristy But.....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

The whole night life and the 1000's of people walking the Plaka make it a must see. While there are plenty of shops with plenty of trinkets to buy there are also many sidewalk cafes, restaurants, and we even saw a man breathing fire. If you love to watch people go here

“In the Steps of Pericles”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013 via mobile

It is always relaxing to stroll through one of the oldest areas of Athens. Ignore the souvenir shops and enjoy the ancient streets and close up views of the Acropolis. It still is a wonderful place, especially to have dinner at night.

TIP: Start at the top of Plaka and walk downhill towards Monastiraki. It is much easier than walking uphill in crowds for a few hours.

“Fun strolling, shopping and eating”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

Plaka is fun! The crowded streets are full of amazing finds…the usual tourist junk, but other lovely items including religious artifacts, clothing and jewelry. Lots of good cafe choices, and it is lots of fun to sit, enjoy a coffee or a beer and people watch. Prices can be elevated.

Still selling the same old tat but has to be done lol! Some of the restaurants are expensive and a bit pushy - crowded with locals on a Sunday.
