This hotel is absolutely fabuous and the rooms are wonderful. First you have a very inviting lobby area as soon as you enter the hotel. After checking in to a very helpful and pleasant staff you can take a few steps over to the concierge.
The concierge was very knowledgeable and helpful to say the least. I arrived and had no plans other than I wanted to go to Santorini and some other islands. They advised me about a absolutely fabuous travel agency around the corner near the Plaka that gave me A-1 service and planed the perfect vacation. The service was Passepartous and Makis helped me so if you go there tell them Terri sent you from San Francisco California smile. Anyway the trip was perfect 1st class seating (B seating) on the highspeed 4 boat to Mykonos, had a driver waiting for me to take me to the hotel, 5 star hotel, with spa and wonderful beaches and little eating taverns right on the beach. Breathtaking view. Then went to Naxos and Santorini... all first class without any issues. Perfect. In Santorini (Fira) he made accomodations where I had a cliff view overlooking the waters from my room/ outside terrace. Breathtaking sunsets to die for.

Back to the King George Hotel it was cozy and lush with beautiful gold intricate detailed designs in the bar area and the lobby.

The bathrooms were marble with excellent water pressure, Bulgari shampoo, showergel, soap ..., soft comfortable bath robes and slippers .... you name it. You had a separate set of dimmer lights for the hallway in your room, the actual bedroom, the bathroom and the bar area. You could set a different ambiance for each part of your room. There was black out curtains that were elegant with a old fashioned Greek flair.

The beds were so comfortable taht you fall asleep instantly once you lay your head down. You have several thermostats in your room as well so you make the room as cool or hot as you like it.

The restaurant was over the top. You could see the Parthenon from the restuarant and walk outside along the balcony and view the Parthenon. It was breathtaking at night and the food would just melt in your mouth. A must have experience.
Also what is interesting is that it is literaly right next to the Britagne, literally ... they share the same wall and it is centrally located near the Plaka.. actually in walking distance. There is also a beautiful park down the street to walk or jog at anytime of the day.

Perfect location, perfect accomodations, comfortable room, execellent service, and wonderful food. I would definitely stay again.

My wife and I decided to travel from London for a romantic Christmas in Athens . We were so delighted with King George II Palace. We were welcomed with charm and professionalism .The room was of a very high standard of comfort and luxury with a great deal of thought having been given to both it's looks and functionality. The bathroom fittings were of a particularly high standard with a big bath and marble ledge. The view to the Parthenon was simply unbelievable.

Our luggage did not arrive from the airline and unlike the average concierge who goes through the motions , the hotel concierge spent literally hours and took it as a personal mission to retrieve ours- which he did. All staff are of top caliber.

We have stayed in many 5 star hotels around the world and this was one of our best experiences.

I stayed one night at the King George II Hotel in Athens in a Deluxe Acropolis View Room.

The room is has a very old fashioned antique decor. Excellent view of parlament and Acropolis. Bathroom is rather small but has a good seperated shower and bathtub. The bed is comfortable the only critisism would be that the king size bed is actually to single beds pushed together.

Lobby area is very nice decorated and gives a classy style.

Breakfast at the restaurant on the 7th floor is a combination of served breakfast (drinks, bread, jam, freshly made eggs) and a buffet (cold cuts, fruits, musli...). Very good.

In my opionion one of the best places to stay in Athens. However a bit old fashoned atmosphere. One of the few 5* hotels in Athens which is really a 5* deluxe property.

I just came back from a 3 days escape to Athens. I stayed with my wife at King George II and i was absolutely impressed by the quality of the service and the elegance of the decor. This is a real gem, not so big as other expencive hotels and with a very stong personality. We had been at no charge upgraded to a junior suite in the front with smashing views to the Acropolis (what a miraculous site!!)and the house of Parliament. The breakfast was exactly what we wanted, stylish and top quality products and the dinnet at the Tudor Hall was again eating while watching the best view in the city (again the Acropolis). The rates at the Tudor hall were not so expencive (for the quality and the location) so we had dinner there twice (try also Mamakas at a new hip neighborhood Gazi).

The concierge gave us some very usefull tips about sight seeing and shopping (i really liked the Kolonaki area with expencive boutiques and elegant cafes).

The weather in Athesn in the winter is very good, we stayed outside all day long wearing nothing but a t-shirt.

My wife used the Spa (i m not a spa person) and she was thrilled.

All in all this is maybe the most elegant hotel i have ever seen!!
