Location, location, location! This hotel is located in a great spot for tourists. Unlike other hotels we stayed at in Greece the food (including room service) is outstanding, albeit expensive. The staff is great and the concierge will not steer you wrong. The rooms are great they automatically upgraded us to a jr suite, but we weren't crazy about all of the antiques. It felt a little like staying at our grandma's house. Thankfully all of the electronics and bathrooms were completely modern. Would definitely stay here again.

we stayed at the king george palace hotel prior to boarding the azamara quest for the east mediterrean tour (fabulous cruise) and had a wonderful experience, we arrived before noon and was treated to complimentary coffee while waiting for our room . As part of american express platinum fine resorts and hotels program, we were upgraded to a balcony room and a complimentary dinner. The room was charming and well tendered and from the balcony we overlooked the square where we could watch the changing of the guards; we were surprised to find a bottle of wine w 2 glasses and a plate of brownies waiting for us. dinner was on the 9th floor, outside with an incredible view of the acropolis. Although we had a limited menu, the food and service was very good. That was continued the next morning at the extensive breakfast buffet which was also complimentary. From the check in to the check out, the staff was friendly and very accomodating, I would not hesitate recommending this gracious hotel.

Stayed at King George Palace for the first night of my honeymoon and was extremely pleased. We were greeted immediately at the airport by the arranged transfer service (Mercedes taxi) by an English speaking driver who also served as a impromptu tour guide on the way to the hotel. The hotel itself is directly across from the Parliament Building (also the President's house according to the driver) and a fairly popular square. The lobby of the hotel is finely decorated, and is only outdone by the quality of service from the hotel staff. The entire staff (along with most of Greece) speaks very understandable English and are willing to go WAY out of their way to make you happy. The room itself was amazing, with extremely high quality bedding (including very nice mattress), high quality solid wood furniture, luxury custom made closets and an out of this world bathroom. The bathroom in our suite was completely covered in marble. Hot water was never a problem, as I feared it may be. The restaurant upstairs offers a great night view of the Acropolis that you probably shouldn't miss, as well as terrific food. The lobby offers 2 computer stations with free internet and printing, and the front desk will photocopy for you. It took us around 15-20 minutes to walk from the hotel to the Acropolis, but we were sort of just leisurely walking, as we didn't have a solid idea of what direction to be going.

We stayed in Athens for two nights on our way back from our honeymoon. The hotel somehow knew this and upgraded us to a suite and sent us some champaigne and chocolates (our Paris hotel sent mineral water and cookies!!).

The King George is obviously one of these old regal hotels that has been updated recently. The room was spacious with all the amenities. It was also fully modern with WIFI, flat panel tv and a light system that may have been too modern that could control all the rooms from various places. The bathroom was spacious in marble with a large tub and great shower.

Front desk service was very very friendly and the concierge knew what he was doing. All his recommendations were on the money, and he was kind enough to call beforehand so all the restaurants were ready for us and whisked us to our tables.

Location is great, you're within walking distance to all the sites, shopping, parliment and the metro is across the street.

I already know I'm staying here again next time I go to Athens.
