“Perfect last night of honeymoon”

King George Palace

We stayed in Athens twice on our honeymoon, the first time in the excellent, trendy Ochre and Brown but for our last night we wanted something a bit more classically grand so were tossing up between the King George and the Grande Bretagne. So pleased we went for the King George as it was absolutely perfect. We had a deluxe room with sitting area overlooking Syntagma Square and the Acropolis, and since the night we stayed happened to be the night of the Greek elections we were in prime position to see all the celebrations meaning there was a wonderful atmosphere. Despite all the excitement outside the staff were a delight and were extremely helpful when I had to report a lost item to the local police. Our room was gorgeous - completely different to most of the places we stayed in on our honeymoon which were designer-trendy, this one had the mod cons yet was very elegant and regal. The bathroom was all marble and very big. Try to book a package including the breakfast champagne buffet as it's lovely having breakfast up on the roof terrace and the swimming pool area in the basement is also definitely worth a look. Overall if you want a classy, old-school, luxurious hotel in the centre of Athens this is your place.

King George is not only for Kings!

I am a Greek Businessman traveling in Athens quite often and until last week I was staying at another Hotel in town. Since I have heard comments from friends and business partners, and after reading the reviews on this site I decided to try the King George in Athens.

The hotel is an old legent which is back in the Athenian hotel reality. The combination of the classic with the modern style is very nicely balanced. The location is very convenient for someone who has to move around the city centre or even outside the centre of Athens since the metro station is right in front of the hotel.

Very nice rooms, great restaurants and a very friendly and efficient staff. I travel very often on business and I have stayed in a number of hotels in Europe, the King George is one of the best if not the best of the places I have been until now.

“Fabulous rooms, luxurious intimacy”

My boyfriend and I stayed at King George on two different occasions within a two-week period. The rooms were absoluely gorgeous, especially if you manage to get one with a sitting area. The rooftop restaurant has a beautiful view of the Acropolis (despite the construction/restoration work that still might be going on around it) and the food/service was excellent -- it was the perfect way to cap off our stay there. Although it's small, I loved the intimacy and decor of the L-shaped pool and hot tub in the spa. Definitely worth taking a quick dip! You can't beat the location -- it's in the middle of everything (the designer shopping area is around the corner from the Grand Bretagne next door, the Acropolis was about 10-15 minute walk) and it's situated right in front of the train station for those who decide to take the train (btw, I found the train to/from the airport to the hotel was extremely easy, cheap, fast and was a much better experience than taking a taxi). For anyone who's trying to decide between the King George and the Grand Bretagne, the King George imparts a feeling of intimacy that's missing from Grand Bretagne. Both, however, seem to have quite a number of business travellers, which in light of the cost/type of hotel, is not really surprising. Overall, I highly recommend staying at the King George.

We celebrated our anniversary and my wife booked a suite at the King George Palaca.
We really enjoyed the hotel the service and the food.Tudor restaurant is one of the best I have ever been. And as I travel alot I have paid enormous amounts for second class restaurants.
For breakfast ask for a table in the veranda and relax with view.

The day of our celebration we used the spa that is small but very well appointed.Try the caviar massage ,is amazing. As they knew we celebrate we found in our room a cake and a bottle of wine.
King George Palace is worth every penny for us ,as we appreciate
a hotel that is different ans focused in service.
One day we wanted to visit the museum and guess what , the bellboy walked us to the metro and made sure we were at the right train.

“Great 5 Star Hotel”

The King George is a great location with a spectacular view of the Acropolis from the seventh floor restaurant. We had an interior room on the second floor which was very well appointed and very quiet. The room was spacious and the bathroom was large. The room had a high tech lighting system and TV which took some gettting used to.
The restaurant is first rate, but very expensive. You are paying for the food and the view.
If you are willing to pay for a 5 star hotel, I would definitely recommend the King George.
