We got out of the Metro station to a huge lovely square loaded with locals and tourists.
On Sunday morning (try to do it early!), we enjoyed a colorful flea market named "Avissyniass Square". Bought a nice handmade plate from Rhodes Island, Mikis Theodorakis (the Greek songwriter) and Giorgos Zambetas (the composer) CD disks and Greek souvenirs from the numerous shops in the area.
There are tables available at the endless number of cafes and restaurants.
Have some local food; drink the fabulous "Resina" wine.
This is the most attractive square in Athens.
We shall be back!
