We stayed at Carolina because everywhere else was all booked up. It wasn;t cheap (67 euros for a double room per night), so we expected it would be a decent place to spend the night. When we arrived, we were greeted by a staff who was unfriendly, which was very unwelcoming. The room was small, and there was no bath tub. When we checked out the next morning, the same unfriendly staff who we dealt with the night before told us we couldn't pay for the rooms by credit cards, unless we paid the full price which was 75 euros per room. The only good thing I could say about this hotel was its good location. I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone unless you are absolutely desperate for a place to stay in Athens.

If you want to be assured that your RESERVED, CONFIRMED room is available when you arrive in Athens, DO NOT use this hotel. We arrived early Saturday afternoon to discover they'd given our room to someone else, even though my confirmation was there to prove it! We ended up staying at Hotel Tempi down the street, but were very lucky to get that as most hotels were full that night. This is no way to treat a customer and I hope everyone who reads this WILL NOT book a room at this hotel.

Decided on this hotel since many others were booked. The rooms are clean but small. They take your credit card number at time of reservation but don't actually take credit cards so I had to quickly run to an ATM the morning of my departure. The staff was unfriendly and the night/early morning attendant sleeps in the cafe upstairs and grumbles when asked to call a taxi. Overall I would not stay here again. It is not in the main area and it is too expensive for what you get.

Spent a total of 5 nights at this hotel when arriving/departing from Athens. Very clean, recently remodeled interior although rickety building/elevator. Paid first night w/my Visa via e-mail reservation.
They informed us upon check-out(both times!) that their credit card machine was not working, which was a major hassle for us travellers who don't carry a lot of cash, so we demanded(politely) a discount & got the room for 75 euros a night(mid-Sept.). Breakfast was marginal, no fruit, but we brought in our own bananas. Lots of bread, boiled egg, coffee(?) and juice-like liquid(we eschewed). Location was fantastic, quiet and had a patio for hanging clothes to dry! Worth the money, but DO try to negotiate if they claim their card machine is on the blink.
They just don't want to pay the bank's charge!
