We and another couple from Ottawa, Canada, stayed two nights at the Parthenon Hotel after two weeks in Santorini and Crete, and we were very impressed. The location couldn't be better - two blocks to the entrance to the Acropolis and one block from the Plaka. On a quiet street - our rooms were in the back on a courtyard and were very quiet with the balcony door open all night - until the birds started singing around 6 AM. Most impressed with all the staff, who were very helpful and friendly - they provided good advice on tavernas and restaurants and were generally very knowledgeable. The rooms were very clean and more spacious than most European rooms and the beds were comfortable. The included breakfast was very good - hot and cold buffet with a wide selection - not the usual continental breakfast, and once again the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Myself and 5 friends stayed here last August .
The location is superb and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It is two minutes from the metro and the acropolis.
The rooms are small but really clean and the facilities are all you could ask for.
i would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a decent priced hotel right in the heart of the city with most of the attractions being in walking distance.
One complaint too many AEK fans amongst the staff!

Spent a long weekend with my sister at the Airotel Parthenon at the end of April. Travelled there by Metro from the airport - would recommend that route. Metro is clean, efficient, fast and cheap. One change and you're at Akropli station which is a couple of minutes walk from the Hotel.

The Hotel reception is beautiful, staff extremely helpful and friendly and the twin room we had was excellent standard even though no view to speak of. Breakfast was an excellent selfservice spread of cooked and cold options. Didn't try the restaurant any other time as were enjoying the variety in the Plaka.

Fantastic location in a quiet side street less than 10 minutes to Acropolis entrance and about 5 to the shops and restaurants of the Plaka. Couldn't be better really.

One word of warning to ladies travelling alone - don't be surprised at being pestered by lone or groups of men of all ages. (My sister and I are almost 50 but still attracted unsolicited, unwanted and sometimes oppressive attention! We didn't experience this in either Rome of Venice.)

Watch for a bait and switch with this hotel. I paid for and rec'd a confirmation for this hotel on April 14th via Amex. Yesterday, one day before our trip starts, the hotel ( not Amex) bounced us to a property outside the city, the Zafoli, with very poor Tripadvisor reviews. Amex contacted them and they would not honor the reservation. They claimed they didn't have it. However, the hotel had emailed me with this news and there is no other way they would have had my name and email if they didn't have the reservation! Fortunately, Amex helped find me another comparable hotel in the same area.

Management response from Parthenon_Hotel, Assistant Manager
(Management representative)
May 14, 2007
Dear Mr. Jobco,
We are contacting you further to the post you published at www.tripadvisor.com for Parthenon hotel, which we must admit came as a real surprise to us! We would like to present to you the facts from our side.

First of all we would like to assure you that we have never received you reservation. All reservations have either an e-mail or fax proof evidence. Please request this proof from your travel agent that they have sent us your reservation.

Secondly there was a phone call by AMEX to our property about your reservation. We explained to them that we have never received your reservation but we DID have availability and could accommodate you with no problem. It was their decision to transfer you to Zafolia hotel even though we had vacant rooms.

We would also like to mention that we had never come in contact with you and these are the surprising news!!! Please send us this response, as we believe that it would give many answers concerning the matter of your lost reservation.

We work with Travelocity through the GDS and our representative in Greece (Innpoints Worldwide) ensures that never have they send us your reservation plus the price you have paid for a double room is very high (143,75€ when the price for a double room for that period is only 128€). We presume that Travelocity is working with a travel agent that has not been authorized by us to sell our property and especially with this price since we have parity rates.

We would like to inform you that in case we find out that this has been a mistake from our side you will be offered 1 week stay free of charge during this summer.

Please forgive us in advance for any inconvenience that might have been caused from our side. We will do our best to answer you concerning this issue, in detail and accuracy.

Yours Sincerely,
Yiannis Chatsidakis
Assistant Manager of Parthenon Hotel

We are just home from a 3 night stay at the Parthenon Hotel in Athens. We found it to be a very nice hotel with a great location. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is a very nice buffet breakfast. Also, there is FREE internet access from the lobby and also from your room in case you've brought along your laptop.
We were in room 601, and I think it was very non-representative of the rooms in this hotel. It was a bit shabbier and not so well decorated. BUT, it had an amazing view of the Parthenon and a huge roof balcony. It also had a very loud vent from the kitchen, but they turn it off at night.
We paid 128 euros per night, and I thought that this was a pretty good deal for this location. I had tried to book us at the highly rated AVA hotel, but even 3 months in advance they had no vacancies. Even if you don't wind up at the Parthenon Hotel, this is definately the part of Athens where you want to be. Everything is walking distance, including lots of wonderful restaurants.
I certainly recommend the Parthenon Hotel.
