Spent a long weekend with my sister at the Airotel Parthenon at the end of April. Travelled there by Metro from the airport - would recommend that route. Metro is clean, efficient, fast and cheap. One change and you're at Akropli station which is a couple of minutes walk from the Hotel.
The Hotel reception is beautiful, staff extremely helpful and friendly and the twin room we had was excellent standard even though no view to speak of. Breakfast was an excellent selfservice spread of cooked and cold options. Didn't try the restaurant any other time as were enjoying the variety in the Plaka.
Fantastic location in a quiet side street less than 10 minutes to Acropolis entrance and about 5 to the shops and restaurants of the Plaka. Couldn't be better really.
One word of warning to ladies travelling alone - don't be surprised at being pestered by lone or groups of men of all ages. (My sister and I are almost 50 but still attracted unsolicited, unwanted and sometimes oppressive attention! We didn't experience this in either Rome of Venice.)
