“Good hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

We just returned from our trip to Athens. We stayed at the Airotel Parthenon and we thought it was a great value for the money. The location can't be beat. It's very close to the old part of town, the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum. Plenty of good restaurants around too. The staff are all incredibly nice and helpful. We thought the breakfast was fine - it's hard to complain about free breakfast. The beds were comfortable and it was nice having a balcony - there are so many birds chirping in the afternoon, it was nice to leave the door open to listen to them. The only bummer was that the walls are fairly thin but I always pack earplugs so I slept just fine.

When I'd planned stay at Athens I'd read a lot of review about this hotel. And now when I read reviews it seems that the hotel consists of the two parts. One part is beautiful and the other is awful. Unfortunately we were at awful part. Anyhow I want to be fair. There is one excellent thing. It's location. The hotel is situated near the old city center. And the staff is polite. DARK SIDE. Breakfasts were uneatable . Grey mess called "scrambled eggs". Tiny sausages fried twice or thrice. The most simple thing is yogurt from nearest supermarket. There were no yogurt. The room was dusty. There were dust flakes on air fan at WC, at the door the same place, at the air conditioning lattice above the head at the entrance. Have a loot at my photo. Carpet looked nice but after ten minutes going barefoot feet got black color. Air conditioning rattled. Seems very old. There were no towels, there were rags.

Room Tip: Really I don't know. ROOM #406 was DIRTY

Very clean rooms, staff very helpfull, great location near La Plaka and the Parthenon. Good restaurants at hotel and nearby. The streets surrounding are perfect for shopping and find good bargains. Would go back anytime!

Location, location, location with nice rooms and a great staff! This is a great hotel - literally a 5 minute walk to the Parthenon, Plaka (market place), metro, and several great restaurants. Our room was clean and the staff friendly. The staff were particularly helpful (Petros was great) because we stayed there when the taxis, metro, and trams were all on strike for three days. The staff kept us updated on what was open and closed, how to get to the sites, and made sure we got transportation back to the airport. Their restaurant recommendations were spot on. The only minus is the breakfast offered - it is minimal but enough to get you started in the morning - don't have high expectations. Also the elevators are small and the blow dryer in the bathroom is underpowered. Minor drawbacks to a hotel that is an excellent value for the price.

I would happily recommend this hotel to tourists. It is within 5 minutes walk of the Parthenon and turning right rather than left at the top of the road, 5 minutes walk from the Plaka, which is the market place of old Athens.
The staff were delightful and the room fine - small, clean and with a balcony over-looking the alley below.
Breakfast was adequate but not exciting and dinner was not served when we were there, in late November. This didn't matter as the Plaka is overwhelmed with tavernas.
I cannot comment on the price as we were using air miles.

The Hotel Parthenon is pretty much the best of all worlds. The location is super-prime! It is just around the corner from the Acropoli Metro Station in one direction, and around the corner from taxi/bus/sight-seeing bus stops. The surrounding streets are so full of shops and restaurants that you will have a hard time choosing one. The old district and Plaka are the nicest areas of the city, and this hotel is right there. My wife and I walked around both at day and night and felt perfectly safe. Also, virtually every major attraction is easily within walking distance. This is helpful for when the transportation system is on strike (which is pretty often, including during our stay).

Speaking of strikes, should there be a protest/riot, have no fear. This hotel is several blocks away from Syntagma Square where that mess usually occurs, so it should not impact your stay at all.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are quite nice and modern. The beds are the most comfortable I've found in all of Europe! A traditional Greek breakfast bar is included with your room and it is delicious! There is a great selection of fruits, breads, meats, pastries, olives (my personal favorite), yoghurt, and beverages. Greeks like their eggs runny, so if you're like me and do to, you're in luck here. If not, there are plenty of other items to choose from.

There also the standard things available, such as a safe in the room, a computer in the lobby, and free wifi. Also, the desk offers commission-free currency exchange which was very convenient for us!

We stayed in four countries and hotels on this trip and although all were nice, this one was by far the best. Should go without saying, we would gladly stay here again!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony

Very clean, great location. People were helpful, breakfast was a large variety, but not super. Beds were comfortable and firm. We could walk just about everywhere and only two blocks from the metro. Usable lobby with free computer. Nothing exciting in decor, but safe area.

Room Tip: We had a 3 single bed room. Basic, but comfortable
