Having just returned from this holiday i would reccomend that you do not use this hotel, even more so if you have a young family. We had our 12year old son.
The area is full of prostitutes and drug addicts and many more undesirable charcters (although we did not feel threatened). The only advantage of the location is that it is very near to the metro station, but having said that, that is the only advantage.

The hotel itself is very uncomfortable, very very basic, the breakfast was awful and the staff were grumpy. The lift was even worse.

If you are looking for a more than basic hotel then this is the place for you, if you are looking for a nice romantic or family break then do not go here.

However I would highly reccomend to get the metro and the tram and head to Attica coast line so easy to get to and so cheap to use the public transport.

Hello all, after all the reviews i read about this hotel, i was quite shocked, especially i read those reviews before going on to this holiday thinking what in the name of god have i booked now, the reviews did scare me quite a bit about the areas and things like that.

me and my boyfriend went for 6days staying at this hotel, it was very good to my standards and my boyfriend would agree also, we know we werent after anything fancy, just basics would do us fine. which is what they provided us.

the areas werent as bad as everyone was saying, by midnight we were walking arouund and felt safe, i mean the area might look a bit dodgy but honestly, it's not that bad.......never judge on how it looks, also it was extremely convenient!!! about 2 mins walk to station, and omonia sq is one of the big stations!

about the rooms, yes there are no shower curtains but hey come on this is only a 2 star hotel so u know it's ok, it's really tiny tho, but we coped, also basic room with telly, air con, things like that...........hmm breakfast was gd for me, they have ham and cheese, loadsa breads, mini toasts, cereal and milk, coffee, tea, orange juice.........hmmm jams, honeys, butter, yeh that's bout it............but that was way better than the breakfast i had in france hahahaha...............the staffs i didnt really talk to but they were always smiling and helpful on informations when we needed like how to get to Cape Sounion's bus stop blah blah blah, yeh overall we thought it was excellent, especially this was a birthday gift to my boyfriend who turned 22 hahaha, it was so memorable as Greece was his favourite place to go and he's never been, that was his dream!!

so all the people who wanna book this, all i can say is expect basic ok!!!! and HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!

The Amaryllis Hotel, situated a walkable distance away from the busiest tourist areas, offers wonderful convenience for visitors to Athens. It is two blocks from Omonia Square, which is served by two Metro lines.

The facilities are basic, but should serve your needs. In our double room, there was a tile floor, a heating / air-conditioning unit, television, and shower. The balcony has a view of a multi-story parking garage across the street. The hotel had confirmed our reservation for a non-smoking room, but it turned out not to make any difference.

Our room rate included breakfast, consisting of bread, sliced cheese, ham, packaged toast, cereal, jam/butter/honey packets, milk, orange-flavored juice, tea, and coffee. It was served in a smallish room -- you'll probably have to share your breakfast table with others.

If you're planning to see the sights of Athens, and just need a place to spend a few nights, you'll find the Amaryllis Hotel to be good value for the money. We booked our reservation through the hotel's website: ----

We stayed here for 3 nights, returning 20th March 2005. It was a very handy location easy to walk to the Plaka district each evening and therefore to most popular attractions in the daytime. The tube station is 2 minutes away at the busy Omonia Square.
The rooms are basic but comfortable, overall a very typical Greek budget hotel. Yes their are no shower curtains but have yet to stop anywhere in Greece that provides these!!!! That said this was not a problem.
Breakfast was cereal, plenty of milk or cream, meat, cheese, fresh bread, french toast, honey and jam, together with tea or coffee. More than adequate.
Staff were friendly and the bar prices were about average for the city.
Overall a basis hotel not far from all the amenities which was just right for the very inexpensive price we paid.

This hotel if you can call it that, is the worst place I have ever seen. The area is dangerous, full of prostitutes, the cafe next door has women sitting around on show, so this was not a good hotel for a group of girls. That aside, the actual hotel is disgusting, cracked basin and cracked shower tray with no shower curtain, bathroom was so small I couldn't shut the door. My room looked like a prison cell. The lift was ancient with room only for one person, the staff were rude. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Breakfast was a complete joke! there is no fresh milk for cereal or teas & coffees.
