“Incredible view but don't hike it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

The view is spectacular. Find out when sunset is and go about a half hour before that. Take the funicular up and down. If you walk from the main road, you'll feel like you're walking a steep road in San Francisco going up tons of steep steps before you even get to the funicular. If you can't walk that, take a cab to the entrance.

“Sunset at Athens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

Glad we got to see the gorgeous view from this hill, that too even at sunset. Steep hill. Advise that you take a taxi to go nearby but still you will need to walk considerably uphill to get the views, visit the church at the top or sit at the restaurant and have a drink. Don't miss out on a getting a drink at the restaurant on top where I felt the prices were reasonable for this location.

“Birds eye view of Athens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

Travelling to Athens, one must make the effort to visit Likavitos. A birds eye view of Athens , a nice little church at the top , and a café and bar, visitors can enjoy a drink or a meal with no limitations as to when you need to come down the mountain.

“Amazing view of the City!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2013

During our recent 4 night stay in Athens, my wife and I were on our 3rd day of city sightseeing and decided that it would be a great time to visit Lycabettus Hill as a bit of a breather from the hustle and bustle of the city.

After walking to where the Telferic was (Lift to take you to the top) we purchased our 7 euro each ticket but had to wait for about 20 minutes as they only run every 30 minutes. Luckily, there was a little bar/cafe right across from it so we had a quick drink there before heading to the top.

The ride up was pretty cool and interesting as it climbs a very steep angle. Once at the top, it was nothing short of jaw dropping in the view you have. There are a couple of vendors selling their merchandise. We particularly enjoyed our time as there were not many people around and it felt like we had the place to ourselves. We took advantage of this and spent a few hours taking in the view and having a few drinks at the restaurant which is located at the top.

The only sour not of the whole experience was the nasty graffiti which covered some of the monuments and information boards. This was truly a shame as it seems that nothing in Athens period remains sacred, due to people feeling the need to inundate locations with ugly graffiti. They do charge another 7 euros to ride down, however, we decided to walk down and enjoy the view this way.

In any event, if you want a break from the city, try a few hours up on Lycabettus Hill for a nice break!

“Lovely”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

The view from here is breathtaking; watching the sun set over the city was one of our most memorable moments in Athens. When the sun disappeared the crowd - a mixture of people of all kinds of nationalities - uttered a communal sigh and it really was a unifying moment - thinking that the sunset has the same sort of meaning the world over for people. There is a nice restaurant where you can have a drink with beautiful views which we also very much enjoyed.
