I stayed here in October twice for 2 nights each. Each time my room was clean and of adequate size. There is a nice view of the Acropolis from the balcony in 406. There was a little noise from other rooms--the walls may be a little thin, but the hotel is a great value--huge breakfast buffet, outstanding location on Ermou (pedestrian shopping street) and close to Plaka, Syntagma, etc. Staff was uniformly helpful, courteous, friendly. They stored bags, helped me find another hotel for a different stay, booked a bus tour, ordered a taxi for a 3 am trip to the airport, helped with an internet problem (internet only 3 euro/hour, while other hotels charge much more!) I would definitely stay there again, and recommend without hesitation. It's not a 5-star hotel with obsequious staff, but it's an excellent 3-star hotel.

The hotel is in absolutely perfect location. Right off the main pedestrian street in Athens. Right smack in the middle of Plaka. 10 minute walk to the Acropolis. Surrounded by hundreds of restaurants and shops.

The hotel itself is modern; recently remodeled. The rooms are spacious. My room had a very large patio. We also had two adjoining rooms -- great for a family.

Lovely Hotel in great location. Arrived to welcome basket of fruit and note from Manager welcoming our family group. We had adjoining rooms-new wing, double was large by european standards and good price point. Convenient to everything. whether you are a walker like we are or metro link a couple blocks up. Staff-hi Katrina, was helpful calling taxi , hauling up bags(heavy)

Breakfast generous, more than adequate.Hot foods appreciated and fr esh fruit. Member of staff helped in making traditional greek cup of coffee.

Will definetley return.

The Cypria sits on Diomias, a quiet pedestrianied street about 5 mins stroll from Syntagma Square. The reception area is light and airy and the staff very pleasant. Most have a good grasp of English.

I stayed in room 426, this being in the new part of the building. Although just a single room, it had a queen sized bed, plenty of storage, a colour TV, internet access, free aircon, mini bar, dial-out phone, well-equipped and spacious bathroom complete with tub and, best of all, a balcony overlooking the adjacent street.

Breakfast is part of the deal and this is served in the large dining room which sits one flight of stairs above the reception area. It's served from 7am till 10am and again, the waiting staff were efficient, smiling and polite. The breakfasts were served on a buffet basis with the waitresses serving the beverages

There is of course a lift to all floors and in the lower lobby, two desks where you may hire internet access at a very reasonable three Euros per hour.

The public areas of the Cypria are well decorated and furnished and above all, cool. A large screen TV is provided as well in the lower lobby along with several comfotable chairs which were usually occupied by local football fans.

The deal over the web cost me 92 euros per night. The tariff behind the door gave the nightly rate as 115 euros so a good deal was had.

I couldn't fault the Cypria - it's location makes it ideal to reach most of the city's top sites inside 30 mins walking. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a mid-price hotel in this buzzing metropolis

  • Liked — Pleasant staff and good sized rooms
  • Disliked — The noise from building work next door but this did finish by 5pm

My room was a bit tucked away at the back of the hotel but was perfectly adequate - a decent size and comfortable. The only drawbacks were that the safe didn't work - even after maintenance had reset it; and I was almost hit on the head by the shower head when it fell from its holder. The location is excellent - minutes from Syndagma metro and within walking distance of the major sights.
