First time to Athens and Fantasy Travel's Eleni was terrific in setting up my reservation! I had room 334 in the newer building, which was huge and had a large American style bath. No view, but was out doing the town evenings anyway. Looking at the floor plan in the room, this was the biggest one on the floor. May be similar on other floors. Room clean and modern. Air worked fine. All staff very helpful, especially front desk. They called for bus info. for me to visit Evia and pleasantly answered all my tourista questions. Exceptionally convenient by foot to all major attractions, shopping, food, post office, travel agencies, etc. Street scene on Ermou St. "interesting". Musicians (gypsy band, Detroit Eddie "wandering across Greece to find my roots"), brand name luggage knock-off vendors who disperse when the police show up, and a puppet entertainer in the evening. Major shopping mix of expensive and tourist shops during the day. I took in several Euro2008 games on the sidewalk cafe adjacent to the hotel with beers and salad or a club sandwich. The hotel breakfast was very diverse and of high quality. For what it's worth, the dollar is weak, but it's not so great for the Greeks, either. There were major peaceful street demonstrations in front of parliament protesting EU policy and effects on pricing. I was able to find quality food for reasonable prices, and I felt the 92 euros for the room was worth it. Yes, I was on an expense report, but the room quality was what I expected to have in the US, and I spend my employer's money like my own. Highly recommend this place for conveneience, nice room, and helpful staff.
