“A dirty hotel with mean owner”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2010

I stayed there for 6 nights and was very dissatisfied with the hotel & the owner. The room is dirty and the bathroom is too small. A USED, DIRTY teaspoon was put on my saucer in breakfast. On the last day of my stay there, someone entered my room and loosened one of the batteries in the remote control so that I couldn't watch TV. At one night, it was very noisy upstairs with the sounds of a couple of kids screaming & a woman shouting at them for hours. Nothing was done by the owner to shut them up. I strongly recommend anyone NOT to stay there!

“the owner is very greedy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2010

I payed for 6 nights in advance and had to leave after 3 days (the hotel uses cheap chemical cleansers and what's most ugly: air odorizers - in the first day, an awfull cigarette smell came all the way from all over window and bathroom). And guess what, the owner started a drama over the money, he would refund me only half - I have to pay for the current day due to the fact I haven't announced him (I checked out before 11 in the morning), that I had a discount for the fact I took 6 days in a raw and if I not agree with him, eventually he will give me no money back. And suddenly, guess what, he shows me a 'real' price on the walls of 70$ per room, not with 'discount'! For _that basic location, to speak indulgently! So, I lost 70$ and payed each day of staying in that 'cantina' with 70$, without my will, due to my imbecile way, never give money in advance for a place that hardly resists to the limit of obscurity.

“simple clean hotel in excellent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2010

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights and we were very happy with everything. I had read so many negative reviews that if we had not already prepaid with Expedia I would have cancelled. Let's face it, this is a budget hotel but we found the hotel clean, the people very friendly and helpful, the rooms very simple and basic but clean (it was cleaned every day with clean towels) and very quiet. All the rooms have a balcony and I could actually see the Acropolis if I looked to the right side of the balcony. The breakfast was a simple continental breakfast - the quality of the coffee varied according to who made it and went from very good to a bit watery but it was fine for us. There was air conditioning in the room and you could turn it on or off according to your likings. You could not find a better location for the price than this hotel - almost at the base of the Acropolis in the heart of Plaka and super safe. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

“Terrible - Noisy, dirty, unfriendly”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2010

I would not stay here ever again. Rooms were tiny and stingy, sheets had hair on them, couldn't turn around in shower or bathroom, and there was really loud echoing noise all night long and then construction first thing in the AM. Felt like it was a complete waste of money.

Location is good but doesn't matter so much because the area is very walkable. Also stayed at Attalos hotel which was excellent - spend the extra money on that type of hotel instead.

“Simple, Cheap Hotel, Perfect Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2010

Pros:
• Cheap for a non-hostel hotel in this area. 45€ for a double in winter with free breakfast.
• Area is absolutely perfect for anyone for anyone who doesn't need to go clubbing every night...and even then, one only has to walk about 15 minutes, or 3 minutes to the metro.
• Many rooms have balconies (though most don't have views of anything in particular).
• Staff is nice, if not incredibly helpful/fluent in English.
• Did I mention the location?

Cons:
• You get what you pay for. This is a simple, dated hotel. Don't expect luxury.
• Atmosphere isn't great. It does in fact feel quite old. JUST south of a "classic" feel, really.
• The breakfast is literally toast, butter, jam, cheese, and coffee. And we're talking 6 slices of toast and 3 slices of cheese.
• No laundry service.
• We were there in winter, and were, I believe, the sole guests in the hotel for all but one of our 6 total nights there. This fact itself has both pros and cons!
• They never gave us more toilet paper!

Overall:

I'd absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone who doesn't particularly care about how well-appointed the room in which they lay their head is. It's a fantastic deal for a hotel in such a nice area (though the area IS tourist-central, which gets tiring). Just don't expect a buffet breakfast!
