“Great location but thats the only good thing..”

We stayed there is October 2014 and the experience was not good at all. First when we checked in we were made to pay an additional 20 euros for the fact that the lady at reception said that we had reservation only for one person whereas I showed her the booking page which said 1 double room with no mention of number of guests. We tried to check in early but the room wasnt ready so we left our bags at the reception and roamed around till our check in time. As soon as we entered our room there was a horrofic bleach odour in the tiny room (believe me when I say tiny). The room looked clean. Then when we saw the bathroom we were shocked ! Exactly 4 × 4 size bathroom with 2 x 2 area for shower. The towels which had a strong bleach smell had the name of a different hotel and were not rinsed properly as when we used those towels our skins started burning cause of the bleach. We were only there for a night but would pay a little extra and get another room in the same hotel. Also dont expect any service as the only person taking care of the hotel is the lady at the reception, so you need to do all the luggage lifting. Noone to guide you to your room in the dark hotel building

We knew this was a basic hotel when we booked it, but because of its location went ahead. We read other reviews, noting that it seemed pretty basic, but clean. But, we're sorry we booked it now, as we had to leave after spending just 3 out of the 6 nights we had booked there. We weren't impressed by the level of cleanliness, it seemed grubby and there was dust on the furniture, which had obviously been there for some time. But, we made allowances for this, and thought that as it was central, if everything else was ok,that wouldn't have put us off. On the first night, I was bitten by insects. At first, we put it down to bad luck. When the same thing happened on night 2, and I woke up with more bite marks, and intense burning and itching, we asked the lady we thought was one of the owners to change the bedding, when we returned in the afternoon, to find her busy making the bed, with all of the same bedding. I'd already shown the Receptionist a number of insect bites that morning, and asked for the bedding to be changed. At that point, she gave us a mosquito plug, and did at least seem to be trying to help. By this time, we had already bought our own, plus fly spray, and insect spray. The lady making the bed just carried on, ignored my request for a change of bedding, and asked us to leave the room until she had finished! As with the receptionist, I explained and showed her several bites, which she ignored, coming back minutes later with a used tube of beauty cream, which she handed to me. By that point, our feelings about the hotel, and relationship with the staff had gone down. We felt let down by them, and they obviously thought we were just moaning. On night 3, I was bitten again, and by this time, had bites all over my body. The next morning, the older lady, who we think was one of the owners, asked how I was, but as soon as I showed her more bites, she simply walked off, without any comment. By now, we knew our holiday was going to be ruined if we stayed, so cut our losses and booked in to a different hotel. The new hotel wasn't an expensive option, (except for the fact, that it was an unforeseen expense), but from the minute we arrived, it looked, and just was, very much cleaner. After leaving the Adams Hotel, I didn't have any more insect bites, and we got in with our holiday. Yes, we had to pay more, but the move saved our holiday. Sorry, but just could not recommend this place. It is reasonably priced and quite basic, which is what we thought we were getting. But, it should also clean, and fit to sleep in. The main positive, apart from the fact of leaving, was that the Receptionist was obviously surprised when we checked out ahead of time, and she offered to arrange a taxi, which we accepted, and were grateful for.

Room Tip: Sorry, but while we accept some travellers have really enjoyed staying here, we couldn't recomme...

My husband and I booked at the Adams hotel for one night on the way back from the Islands before our early morning flight back to the states. When we arrived at the hotel on the afternoon of our check-in, we were told that we could not be accommodated and were walked a few blocks away to another hotel. The other hotel was satisfactory, although hard to compare since we never got to see the Adams room (it was however ranked slightly lower than Adams on tripadvisor). More than that it was frustrating that we had spent time researching hotels in advance only to be turned away and left without much of a choice where to stay. Not only that, when we returned home we received a notice of a "no-show" fee from Adams in the full amount of the reservation. Still trying to get that resolved!

Stayed in August 2014 as a couple. First of all we'll start with the good points. Location is great being close to the major tourist attractions and loads of places to eat. Service was really friendly and wifi was great.

Now to the more disappointing components. Room wasn't that clean; it was quite dusty as well. Had to hold the shower head in order to wash ourselves as there wasn't any place for it to sit on the wall so this got pretty annoying in a very small bathroom. Our air con unit started leaking water on our last night there so we decided not to risk any further leakage and left the air con off even though the person at reception tried to fix it. Definitely wouldn't stay here again - would probably pay a bit more for somewhere nicer.

We booked this hotel online and what a choice.! This is amazingly placed in the Plaka just a short 100 mtrs from the most spectacular view of the Acropolis. The family who own and run this hotel are gracious, caring people and their staff are always helpful even with limited to no english. The accommodation itself though not spacious is more than adequate with en-suites to each room. All are air conditioned and very comfortable. We highly recommend this gem in the heart of the Plaka. We will return.......

Room Tip: All rooms are good but try and book one with a balcony. The area is very quiet.

We stayed at Adams Hotel for 3 nights late July. We reserved two rooms for 2 adults and 4 children. Unlike other hotels where we would have likely had to book 3 rooms or 2 rooms for 3 people this was best option for us and not easy to find. The location really was great. Although public transportation in Athens is fine this allowed us to stay out late in the evening and easy to walk back quickly. The rooms were fine. Our adult room for 2 had the view of Acropolis and nice balcony. The room was small but functional and had everything we needed. The bathroom was actually pretty nice. The room for 4 was more basic but again was just fine. It is not a luxury but I would not compare it to hostel. The breakfast was basic but sufficient. I think it should have been included in the cost of the hotel but out of convenience we took adventage of this option. The staff was helpful overall, not overlly friendly but certainly pleasant. I have no complains about anything. I would stay here again if I return to Athens.

The only good thing about this hotel is its location. In the heart of Plaka, it is a short walk to the Acropolis, Syntagma Square and Monastiraki. However, the actual hotel was bad. One of the mattresses of the beds in our room kept sliding onto the floor and toilet door doesn't shut properly. I'm not sure if this was just with our room, but if we needed a shower, we had to hold it, as there was nothing holding it up on the wall. I would not stay here again.
